Puzzle and Dragons Endgame Thoughts on PCGF

Thoughts on PCGF from a spicy endgame whale (who may or may not be in semi-retirement)

I was going to just copypaste my previous endgame whale PCGF thoughts here for the free karma but so much stuff is different that it was hard to do so. Plus I think some people might have noticed if I referred to the “upcoming hera-is ranking dungeon” or called orochi the highest HP blue inheritable :^)

Personally, I voted for Fenrir Viz

Main takeaways from this PCGF:

Not very surprising choices for the current meta.

Be prepared to roll many dupe anubis and be sad

Don’t roll for Ney, wait for Cotton/Dark Yog

I have spent a considerable amount of time in the past week asking my other whale friends why Ney is good since she looks like a relative pile of trash to me, and all I have managed to get out of other whales is that “she is cute” and “it would be nice to collect all the different forms” She is pretty clearly outclassed both in terms of usefulness and cuteness by the not yet in NA Cotton (http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/monster.asp?n=3898)

Double 7c is no longer that rare on monsters and while her awakenings allow trash leads to ok damage thanks to the 7c, a lot of other monsters can fill the same void. Her active just tries to cram too much onto a single skill, to the point where you are almost always wasting ⅔ of the active skill (in contrast to yog, which has similar AS, but yog requires high HP and bicolor is a lot better than tricolor). Leader skill is terrible, +time is a massive crutch that doesn’t allow her to have a real leader skill that does damage. Biggest waste of a 10x rate slot ever imo, but I guess you can go try to collect the different forms for fun.

In contrast to Ney, Yog-Sothoth is probably the best card in the game right now, due to his massive versatility as the best short dungeon leader, incredible utility in his active skill, and a reasonable base sub with his stats thanks to multiboost awakening. Add in the fact that he is an excellent sub/lead in ranking dungeons these days, it is always good to roll more dupes of him.

He is considered the best lead for 3P UDR, see CARL/smirk/iizaya for some decent basic yog builds for 3p UDR that are nonterrible, for P1(kill), P2(standard) and P3(fujin) teams that can farm 3p UDR with minimal orb movement.

Even though he is a 6* GFE and those are usually wasted in PCGF’s, I still consider him an excellent choice for the boosted 10x rates and anyone should be happy to roll multiples of him unless you already have like 10, in which case you probably don’t need PCGF guides.

Like last PCGF, not a massive surprise. DAthena is still a good leader for earlygame players and an average leader for midgame players, and even if you can only make 4 combos, 4c DAthena is still better than any other accessible early game leader.

Kushi and Aizen have fallen off quite hard recently but are still also potential leader pairings for using Haku as a sub. Apparently I hate BHunter but she can be used there as well.

Great on anubis, though less so these days since you don’t need to use actives that much when you pair diablos, getting by with just the base multiplier. Her active skill provides a great crutch to the average player, and lets you cancel out annoying time debuffs. 15k mp so rolling dupes of her is not as bad as dupes of 5k MP monsters. Also the lowest cooldown unlock active, and one of the few unlock actives that don’t mess up your board. This means that in farming setups you can inherit something onto her and then have her unlock up again for the later floors, which can be quite valuable.

Im not skilled enough to use this thing but flandre makes it look kinda op so i guess its good.

People seem to like using anubis x diablos these days because it is a reasonably good pairing for doing dungeons. I generally don’t like this pairing because it makes dungeons go really slowly when you can just use yog instead and do the dungeon fast, but to each their own.

Unfortunately having more than 1 anubis is pretty much useless, so his boosted rates is going to cause a lot of sadness when you roll dupes on dupes and start wishing you never voted for him. Lol.

Still a powerful active although GungHo is moving away from having enemies with absorb shields. However, there are cheaper alternatives like Hiko so that you don’t necessarily need to have Fujin. Multiples are useful but not a necessity, a3 teams will generally run 2 fujin-style actives. Enables farming of Mhera (15.5m xp/hr) and Hanuman (25m xp/hr and the current fastest xp in game) along with easier A3 runs.

Please note that being able to farm Hanuman up to rank 970 does not make you a good player.

Not called Mina, this is Ameno.

Currently the best A3 farmer in NA by far, playstyle allows for easy synergy with pixel awakenings, and bride Scheat being a good sub means good synergy with heart ping as well. SImilar playstyle to Aizen in that if you are using bride Scheat, you can kill trash floors with TPAs and then match blobs for damage on other floors. Also pairs well with kirin for doing time attack snowglobes. From what I hear robots love him too. Dupes not very useful as he is primarily a leader.

2x 7c, just as good as ney tbh (which is not very good), but again, I don’t see most players in NA being able to make use of the 7c awakening. In theory a 7×6 lead but in that sense it is just a shitty diablos. Active skill not great, rainbow leads are not in meta right now and fewer colors are generally better when you are going for combos. Does not create dark orbs so not great on diablos anubis teams, beaten out strictly by Nohime. Non-awoken form is just a worse version of Beach Tachibana. Not really sure why people like her, I don’t personally see any usefulness.

Good for utility, you can never really have too many of these either since usually you want at least 2 (1 awoken 1 regular) and the regular active is good enough to hold dupes of. However, you don’t need to tank as much as before in this meta since you can just mechanic your way around all the enemy shields (pixel, heart ping, etc) and can pretty much 1-shot everything. Less useful than he was last year, but still not bad.

Not really meta anymore, can’t make very good use of pixel, and not great with heart ping either. Limit to healers mean that the best subs are still the same as before with Haku and Oichi. Dupes will be useless, so rip you if you roll a lot of dupes. It pains me to say so, but you are better off using BHunter for your lead, which is even farmable.

Similar to Tachibana, but strictly better. 3 SB allows you to overcome the low sb of most combo teams, and having an active that actually generates dark orbs allows you to do damage with leader anubis. Evolving her is kinda a pain though.

Decent if you lack Amatsu for a blue heart ping. If you have Amatsu, use Amatsu.

One of my favorite monsters, excellent active skill that helps a lot in button farming situations when you are using grimjoww nukes and there are preempts. Ganesha has an even more broken leader skill which allowed a lot of us to get to rank 1k with MHera. Note that JP now has a inheritable leader swap skill that will make Ganesha even better if you can swap out your leader. Currently in NA, most Ganesha farming teams involve single ganesha swapping with Wangren or double Ganesha swapping with Valten.

We saw from the recent ranking dungeons that having a lot of Ilms means you get easy free crowns. Excellent for showing off your “orb matching” and “comboing” skills to the rest of the population with shiner and shiner crowns. Also a great inherit/sub for Yog, which is the best lead in the game currently. Seeing less use these days in 3P UDR on Yog teams because you are kinda forced into running Pixel Cloud + Paimon, but still a useful sub if you dont have dupe yogs.

Good P3(fujin) team for 3P UDR due to natural synergy with fujin in terms of color, and a natural 3 SB that allows you to get Fujin up in time. IMO better than the common green yog method because you are able to run heart ping. Unable to deal with Titania in 3p UDR, unfortunately, and also somewhat lower on damage in comparison to yog. Also serves as a decent sub on Kushinada teams even though she is washed up.

(This is copypasted from my thoughts from last PCGF. Nothing has changed)

This is quite questionable to me. I look at this card and all i see is shitty haku. I guess its 15k mp instead of 5k so thats something. Also its the best typing in the game so it can take all latents. Ok maybe this isnt so bad after all

Great farming leader if you have subs that aren’t god types and therefore can’t use DMeta. 6x unconditional for full boards is enough to kill most things that are worth farming. Somewhat funny because he was designed as a skill-based lead for people who could clear full boards with all colors, but everyone just uses him as a 1c 6x no-skyfall farming lead.

jk

I used to hate on ALB but recently I have been using him a lot more (lol). Pairs well with Awoken Raph right above for no-skyfall swipe farming. Makes farming very brainless since you dont have to move inherits around all the time (meri with inheriting toshiros on things) and the dios skill is fast (compared to mgoemon with multiple effects). LB used to suffer from not having a good no skyfall lead to pair except DMeta, which required low HP, but ARaph solves a lot of those problems. I actually farm mainly with this thing now.

She might get a split ult/awoken form someday and be good.

See Oichi above, same thing but for blue. Not 3SB but blue subs have more sb in blodin(4) and whale(5)

Heart ping on Paimon immediately gives it relevance in the current meta as an alternative to Bride Scheat. In fact, in yog 3p UDR, Paimon is better than bride scheat since he/she actually provides damage with the OE’s as well. Active not great but low enough CD that it can usually be inherited over, usually with something like BMyr/HXM. Keep dupes because both versions can be useful.

I really don’t know. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I want to meme about NA and Krishna but i think that might actually be true.

I am terrible at comboing so I love this card. Buffs recently (in the past year sometime, recent enough) made his active skill last multiple turns. Along with the massive amount of TE awakenings, it can enable the average player to bypass 6-combo shields. I have heard stories of players using multiples of him on Anubis to have a permanent 5s TE buff active. Pls tell Flandre more about those teams, he is curious.

I feel like everyone already has him, but if you don’t it can be quite painful. Delays are a good way to deal with random mechanics that are too annoying to deal with in other ways. Personally I still like delaying short color absorbs since the only NA color absorb voids make some terrible colors (green/blue). Great for inheritance as well, providing a lot of HP and a long active that can absorb some skill delays.

New ults, one of them has a heart ping awakening. If you search back on Reddit a while you can find some discussion of pairing Ryune x Meri :^)

Thank god this card is no longer voted in:

Historically, I have always called Andromeda a pile of trash and wondered if people voting for her were mentally deficient. However, in order to prevent someone and her reddit alts from coming after me, this time I will acknowledge that she is slightly cute.
