Genshin Impact: Tips For Beginner Players

0

Genshin Impact features different kinds of mechanics and content that set it apart from other RPG games. Because of this, many players, especially beginners, find it a bit challenging to understand the basics of specific tasks, such as weapon enhancing, increasing their Adventure Rank, and ascending their characters.

Thus, it is crucial to follow certain recommendations to optimize your starting experience in Genshin Impact, especially if you are a new player.

Tips for Beginner Player in Genshin Impact

Format to Play

Genshin Impact is available for gameplay on mobile devices, iOS and Android, consoles (PlayStation 4), and PC. Because of the performance on some phones and the Playstation 4 not running that well, being under 30 frames per second, it is recommended to play on PC because it runs the game the most smoothly.

All formats support cross-play, which means that you can play with your friends independently on what format you are using. However, cross-save is only available on PC and mobile devices. This means that you can open your account on your mobile device, save all progress you have made, and continue playing on the PC, if you prefer, or vice-versa. However, this is not possible in the PS4 version.

Co-op Mode

All systems can play Cooperative (Co-op) as long as all players are on the same server. Take into consideration that you cannot change servers afterward. So try to pick the right one from the start. Co-op is unlocked at Adventure Rank 16, so you must reach this level as soon as possible if you want to play together with your friends in the open world or dungeons.

Keep in mind that you cannot earn Adventure experience points nor rewards from chests from the open-world while in Co-op mode if you are the person joining. Apart from this, you are unable to progress through the storyline. Therefore, it is mainly used for dungeons.

Rerolling for a 5-star Hero

At the beginning of the game, you will receive a free character that can belong to any rank… Therefore, you can receive from a 1-star hero to a 5-star. Most players wonder if it is necessary to reroll the initial gameplay until you earn a 5-star hero.

You can do it if you want to because it is worth it to have a five-star hero. However, it is unnecessary. If you want to reroll, you should see it as of launch and before patch 1.1. Before this, you are rerolling takes 27 minutes to reach Adventure Rank 7 for a total of 46 summons. That translates to 92 summons in one hour and gives you two rerolls. Therefore, you have a high probability of obtaining a 5-star hero if you do it before patch 1.1.

However, this is only possible on PC and mobile devices. You cannot reroll on the PS4 or PS5 version unless you create a new PS ID once again. Therefore, it is not worth it in this game format. On PC and mobile, you just open an account to obtain a 5-star unit and stick to the one that gives you this Hero. You then simply add an email for saving issues.

Multiple Pulls vs. Single Pulls

You should always opt for a single pull if you want to spend the least amount of currency possible and looking for a specific unit, and then stopping. If you can land a 4-star or higher unit, it will reset the pity system. Multi pulls are great due to their speed advantage.

Team Building

Genshin Impact is all about teamwork. Most of the damage output comes from the synergy between multiple players, switching between them regularly, and using skills that apply various elements. In this game, elements cause reactions when combined, which inflicts more damage and/or creates beneficial effects against your enemies.

Each character in your team has a specific role that they fill within each element. This is further affected by the gear you have.

Current and Obtainable 5-star Units

All 5-star units are suitable and are generally better than 4-star heroes that have similar roles and elements. Of all the 5-star units obtainable, Venti is probably the best Hero value-wise because he is plug-and-play in any team composition, while their role segments the other heroes. Additionally, most of them are not as easily malleable to individual teams. However, he is also limited because you can only get him during his banner rate up.

Best 4-star Hero’s

In regards to 4-star units, Fischl is the best Hero. Her Electro element is the best in the game for reactions, like Super Conduct and Overload. Apart from that, her skills and damage output are far better than other 4-star heroes.

Team Roles

The roles in Genshin Impact are:

DPS (Damage per Second): This group includes Diluc, Xiangling, Chongyun, Razor, Mona, Keqing, and Xiao. There will be the best DPS units to throw all of your best damage gear, so they inflict a considerable amount of damage, even with just normal attacks.

Support DPS, who usually have a great “Q” or E” skill for damage that you call in when their skills are ready to be used. Additionally, they also have skills that linger as well. Therefore, you can switch to your main unit and cause elemental reactions for some time. These units include Fischl, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Kaeya, and Beidou.

Overall, your DPS dealers and support DPS are your main roles. The other units provide either support through healing or by bestowing effects to your characters.

Support Healers: These units are present on your team to heal your other heroes from damage inflicted on them to improve your team’s survivability. These include Jean, Barbara, Qiqi, and Noelle.

Reaction Support: These heroes bestow to your team additional elemental support or elemental resonance. These include Venti, Lisa, Bennet, Klee, and Xinyan.

Elemental Resonance

Having two heroes of the same element triggers an elemental resonance buff for those heroes. Therefore, for every team composition you make, you should always have two of the same element, and it is best to match your DPS unit.

For example, if you have Diluc as your DPS unit, you will want XIangling as your support element and second damage dealer for your team. This will activate the Fervent Flames, enhancing their Attack by 25%, and is affected by Cryo for 40% less time. If you have Mona as your DPS unit, then XIngqiu is the best option for your Suppor DPS to activate elemental resonance.

Focus on Two Units Only

Overall, the team compositions you will make must focus on one or two elements with one or two DPS units. A team composition could be Diluc, XIangling, Jean, and Fischl for a fire roster with a healer. It ultimately depends on your DPS because it will decide the element that you have two of.

You will receive the benefits mentioned previously, but you will also improve your skill usage. Whenever they use a skill, they will generate an Anemo, and members of the same element will absorb a significant portion of that Anemo. This will effectively boost how often you can use skills, compared to a team composition with four different elements. This tip is, by far, the most important for your overall gameplay, and it will help you progress through the storyline in a faster and more comfortable manner.

As a beginner, you should focus on two units regarding experience, gear, and materials. It is accepted to level up your four characters to level 18 to enjoy and play with each character. However, you must know that your characters’ maximum level is level 20 until you have reached Adventure Rank 15. Regarding Ascension materials, you should focus on two units for clear top speed while using as few resources as possible. Remember that the two central units you should focus on are your main DPS and your support DPS.

Weapons

Regarding gear, you are given a 4-star sword when you reach Aventure Rank 10 as a reward from the Adventurer’s Guild. Additionally, you will receive a 4-star bow when you reach Adventure Rank 18. You can also craft 4-star weapons by searching and collecting weapon prototype pieces in various locations of Genshin Impact. The first weapon available is a Claymore obtained from a Valley Mini-quest. To obtain the rock materials, you simply have to embark your heroes on expeditions to farm them over a day or 24 hours. Ideally, you should be able to collect enough rock materials to make a weapon in a week.

Take the following tip to heart. Only ascend 4-star and 5-star weapons because they possess much higher base stats than 3-star weapons and below. Remember to prioritize the gear and weapons of your main and support DPS first. It is worthwhile for units that depend on elemental reactions to using 3-star weapons for a small-time period. This is because you can refine them by combining dupes of the same weapon together and filling them to the maximum fairly quickly. These boosts will primarily affect the elemental reaction damage than the raw attack damage, which has no effect on it.
