How to Whale?! The short guide!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NalDfdDUub90TENC3fCyOTBiAnOQyefzAkB3znTOlTQ/edit?usp=sharing

← this mother fuckin scammer is who you’ll spend a lot of time dealing with while whaling

So, you came into a good sum of money, not infinite, but a good amount. And you would like to spend them in GBF so you can become strong, and laugh at the 99.9% of the players in discord on how weak they are. This guide is to help you spend your money in the most efficient way.

Choosing the Elements to Whale

There are only two elements, maybe 3 elements worth whaling: Dark (duh?), Light (all right), and Fire (wtf?)

Why Dark?

Pros: Get very strong, very fast, don’t need Gaebolg.

Cons: You can get pretty close if you F2P… (F2P is stronger strictly # wise)

Why Light?

Pros: the only team you probably need. Very stable for almost every contents. Can MVP a great chunk of fights.

Cons: not that great in short fights, need Gaebolg. You can get most of all your weapons free instead of using chocolate bar (Damasucs Ingots)

Why Fire?

Pros: You will be like the only 0.1% of players that can actually MVP on Fire. You are very strong compared to the F2P. There is no way in hell any F2P fire player can touch you. You also don’t need Gaebolg for this and I’d actually prefer Amanohabakiri.

Cons: Fire?

The rest of the 3 elements, water, wind, and earth are not very good for whaling, and most of their best grids are from free events.

For Water: you only need 1-2 Moon Weapons.

For Earth: you also only need 1-2 moon Weapons.

For Wind: Whales lose out in MVP against F2P…. Only reason for this is if you want to stream soloing Medusa HL…

What to Use Gold Moons on?

100 Gold Moon weapons are one of a kind weapon that you can only own for one, basically you have to choose the elements.

Gaebolg (100 Gold Moon + 20-60 Gold Moon)

The best/most used/versatile one is obviously the Gaebolg. Gaebolg alone with a f2p magna grid can get you MVP in a lot of HL races. On the contrary, Gaebolg isn’t very good if you are looking to MvP 30man Pubs like the new Baal/Athena/etc. Contents.

In addition, Gaebolg doesn’t have any party wide attack modifier, so you have to have a strong base grid to make up for that loss.

In addition, Gaebolg’s useful skill unlocks after 1*, so a lot of “small whales” choose to only do 1*. The 2nd skill is ONLY useful when fighting superior elements.

Amanohabakiri (100 Gold Moon + 60 Gold Moon)

Lesser known to the “general peasants” this Katana is very very strong. In some ways, it’s much stronger than Gaebolg, it has a gaebolg like buff (when you DATA, atk increase), and it also have a party wide attack modifier enhanced by primal. So why nobody use this? It’s a Katana, which means your job option is very limited. The only job that really use this is the Sword Master, and in the right hands, it’s very strong!

The TH Knife (100 Gold Moon + 20-60 Gold Moon)

I really dont’ recommend this for low-mid whalers, or even high-whalers. Only “extreme’ whalers will want to get this. The really only purpose to this Knife is allowing TH on Chaos Ruler class, and having it on any elements. Other than that, I don’t recommend, unless you are flowing with moons.

You can also leave this at 1* as the TH skill unlock after 1st limit break.

Gisla Spear (30 Gold Moon + 60 Gold Moon, Sup Tixable)

This is the basis of the Dark Whale Grid. It is also suptixable now, so my best advice is, suptix this, and use your gold moon to Limit Break it. Because it cost 30 Moon to buy this from the shop, and only take 20 Moon to LB it per level. You will need at least 3 of these for your whale grid, the ideal whale grid will have 4-5.

Crimson Finger (30 Gold Moon + 60 Gold Moon, Sup Tixable)

This is the basis of the Fire Whale Grid, the effect is exactly the same as the Dark Gisla Spear. So everything said about the spear is true for this finger.

How and what to gaccha and spark?

Optional: This is against the TOS but will save you a LOT OF CASH.

Buy an 2000-3000 USD account from a Yahoo Auction Japan seller. This will possibly save you 10,000-20,000 USD down the road. I am not kidding. Most of these sellers are quitting the game, and selling these account at about 1/10~1/20 of their money spent on it. It is very very worth it.

Now, if you are starting out fresh, I’d at least reroll or buy a starter account until you get either Agnis or Hades. This will help you immensely down the road. With the gacha system, there is no guarantee you will get this after x amount of money, and that 150 Gold Moon exchange.. As you can see from the weapon selection above, you have much better shit to spend on.

Starting Out – Best to start out at legend fest so you can start whaling asap!

Start Dash Gacha Ticket, unlike “poor peasants,” you as a whale should start dash a summon instead. What summon you should go for, I’ll list toward the end of this section.

Your first whaling should start at 6% Legend Fest. During this time, the gacha rate will have 6% pooping out a SSR, this is best for you to get your character pool so that you can gain Gold Moon more efficiently. This is also the reason why you don’t start dash character, because more than likely, in your road to whale, you’ll gain most of them just by rolling.

Tips: Best do this when there is a good summon, so you can spark the summon. If the sparkable summon sucks, don’t MLB it, and wait for next Legend Fest.

After you finished with your 6% Legend Fest, what is finish you ask? I’d say when you have obtained everything on the sparkable list of the 6%, and MLB the sparkable summon.

The next step is gacha the hell out of +1s. Your goal here is able to +99 about 5 of your 6 elements’ entire grid. Leaving the last grid naturally filled with +99 by random rolls and daily rupee gacha. And when you do this, you’ll have probably enough +99 for most of the summons you’ll carry into your battle.

This step has a very clear “end step”, and a cost associated with it.

Each Spark costs about $850, and 300 Draws. And if all these are weapons you’ll get 3x +99 wapons. You need 5 grids of +99, so 5 x 10 weapons, so 50 weapons in total. So the amount of $850 you need to spend is 50 / 3, which is about 17. 17 * $850 = $14450. After your first Leg Fest, and this, you should have enough gold moons for a Dark Gisla/Crimson Finger Grid. So the cost is about $21000.

If you do this during the 10% cash back, you’ll probably have enough crystal to last you a couple more waves of new characters.

Last thing: the stone you obtain from Guild War that allow you to Limit Break Summons, DO NOT USE ON ANYTHING SPARKABLE/TIXABLE. USE THEM ONLY ON LUCIFER/BAHAMUT/GRANDE/KAGUYA or the 6 Primals. These summons are not tixable, not sparkable, and have half the rate of “normal” ssr summons.

Summons you should MLB/Spark for:

SSR Carbuncles
Garuda

Apollo

DAngel

Baal

Odin
Athena

I’ll add pictures for these later when I feel like it…
