  1. Mechanics of the Reroll

There are 2 ways to reroll the game data. For iOS to my knowledge you are stuck deleting the whole game and re-downloading, but I do not own an iOS device nor have I Jailbroken one so forgive my lack of expertise here.

  • Non-Root Method ANDROID

Go into your file explorer of choice (stock or downloaded, personally i prefer Total Commander as it lets me see 2 folders at once, but any should work). Find the following folder:

Android -> data -> com.netmarble.destiny

You will want to rename this folder to avoid having to download the game data every time you reroll.

With the folder renamed, go to your installed apps via settings or from the file explorer and delete the game data (not just the cache).

Having “deleted” the game data, rename the folder back to normal and start the game up again.  You will now be prompted to start up like you just downloaded the game but after you had downloaded the files.

  • Root Method ANDROID

This method does what the Non-Rooted method does in a much less roundabout way. Find the following folder starting from ROOT:

data -> data -> com.netmarble.destiny

What we are looking for here is a particular folder that holds the account information on the device:

-> shared_prefs

To reroll, simply delete this folder.

The handy thing about having root access is you can even store this folder somewhere else to access the account later. Simply copy or move the folder elsewhere and whenever you want to use that account, “copy” and “overwrite” the folder back into place. I emphasize overwriting as the folder will not be recognized properly if you delete the folder and copy the stored one back into place.

  1. Methods for Rerolling

Start the game without linking to a google account.  This is easily done by tapping outside of the option to link to choose an account. Make sure google play games isn’t set to automatically log in with a particular google account for all games.  On a fresh download of the app, it was turned on for me – Your Mileage May Vary.

If your name matters to you – do not to use your final name on a reroll as this is one of those games that makes every name unique to the account name.  There is an option for 1,000 Rubies (gacha currency) that will let you rename the account later.  I am not sure if you can just use your name and rename the account if it’s bad every time, but that’s an extra hassle to deal with and the free currency is not so out of reach that 1,000 is a Rubies is a hefty price to pay (you just lose out on some dungeon resets or extra storage space for a while).

From the beginning of the tutorial, you can first attempt to roll the 10x summon from stage 1-1. Normally it isn’t accessible from the menu until 1-2 and the tutorial keeps you locked in until stage 1-3.  To roll so early in this process, simply tap the pause icon in the top right to bring up the pause menu with the Leave option.  This will bring up a tabbed menu with options to enter the screens for Enhance Hero, Equip, Skill Enhance, or Summon.

Note for asia players: Bearing in mind this guide is aimed at NA/EU, Asia client differs in that the UI caveat that makes this possible is absent in the Asia client, so you can’t pull this off.

Tapping the not so obvious Go to Summon button (on the right) will let you enter the summoning screen early to do your first 10x roll. If you don’t get anything from the recommended unit list, follow the process you have available to you to reroll back to the start.

If you only get 1 of the recommended units, but not the one you particularly want, you may want to consider continuing until the end of Sylvas to pick up the 3500 Rubies. You may want to take advantage of this before deciding to reroll or keep the account (see stored account usage).

<Subject to Change due to Event Usage>

 As of this writing there is an event running that gives access to lots of quick access to large amounts of Rubies. Doing a single Faction Boss attempt will put you at enough rubies to roll 10x twice disregarding the consecutive roll discount at the end of Sylvas.

If you get a recommended unit that you want, you may want to consider rushing through the normal mode stages to completion until a little bit into hard mode to load up on Rubies. This is fairly easy to do without doing any sort of enhancing if you have 4★ or 5★ units in your team.

By the time you hit hard mode, you should hit around 18,000 Rubies if you didn’t roll at the end of Sylvas. This is enough for 5 10x rolls (16,000 Rubies) if they are done in succession and making use of the 10% discount for consecutive rolls.  You can look around possible events or doing codex stuff to get one more consecutive roll in (19,125 Rubies) and try to get other units you may want. This is also helpful in building up your supply of units for Special Arenas where you may need both forms of certain characters (Faction Arena) or specific units (Designation Arena) from both the 4★ and 5★ pools.

<Subject to Change due to Event Usage>

As of this writing, because there are 4 events available, it is possible by hard mode sylvas 5(?) to reach 22,250 Rubies for a total of 7 consecutive rolls.  Rolling all of these from this point saves a total of 2250 Rubies. Also, with the Dice event active, by this point you should also have 2000 dice to buy the 2 Legendary Summons from the dice shop, giving you another 2 chances to hopefully get the unit you want.

  1. Recommended Units

On the Discord, the recommended unit list is:

Rock
Benito
Paper
Adonis
Paper KurPaper
Francisca
Scissor
Carlota
Rock
Julian

If your 5★ roll does not contain one of these characters, you should reroll.

On Reddit, there is a post by tisch_vlc for meta units for the different kinds of events in the game. Most notable in the list is the Arena and Faction Boss lists as that is where you’ll be getting much of your weekly Rubies from.

For reference, I’ll only mostly be listing the 5★ characters in the lists and bolding the Discord Recommended ones here:

Your highest priority is to make sure you can do Faction Boss and Arena in a good capacity week to week. Arena can be worth a substantial amount of Rubies just by being able to participate in each Special Arena (400 rubies possible for 4 arenas if you can win enough), which is why you want to do several 10x rolls starting out.  Because of Designated Arena and Faction Arena, you need certain characters to be able to enter some of the Special Arenas (in the case of Faction Arena, you need both versions of 2 characters, at 4★ and at 5★ – the 5★ being particularly rough in some cases if your rolls went badly).

  1. Stored Account Usage

Take note that this is not something that is not typically planned to work this way (but does work in many android games).  At any time the developer may decide to find some way to combat this type of account saving (such games as Terra Battle did attempt to do this at one point, and then somehow decided to revert back from it and allowed it, albeit maybe not intentionally).  Any account you genuinely feel happy with should be linked to a facebook or google account in-game to ensure it’s safety.

To link an account – simply log into the account you wish to use in-game by clicking the character icon in the top left corner of the game’s main lobby screen and choosing to Sign in with your preferred service.

  • How to Store Unlinked Accounts

Expanding from before, to save an unlinked account, you need to keep the entire shared_prefs folder (there may be a combination of files inside that need to be kept, but it’s faster to take the whole folder).  When you want to use this account again, you need to copy the folder and paste it back in the data/data/com.netmarble.destiny folder and overwrite all the included files.  If you delete the folder in that directory first, then copy the saved folder – the game will start up as if there was no folder there.

You may have the knee jerk reaction to simply delete an account when it doesn’t have what you want, but depending how far you go with the account, there may be other uses you can employ it for.

  • Uses for Bad Stored Accounts

You might ask yourself “why would I keep a reroll that I don’t like?”.  There’s a couple uses for old accounts you might not immediately think of:

  • Jack’s Puzzle

You can practice the puzzle minigame per reroll account stored freely.  If you log into the account three times, you get one million gold!  You can use this gold to search for secret dungeon pieces so that you can spawn a secret dungeon. By friending the account you decide to stick with in the end, you can pass off this benefit.

  The better you get at the game, the more your main account will benefit as well.  Try to get in the habit of learning to set up to clear the whole board for a timer reset.  If you can master that, you can get massive gains when it comes to the real deal and you’re farming the game for Awakening materials. If you are really lucky and skilled you can get some nice 4★ characters out of Jack’s Puzzle on your good account like Paper Eve, Paper Sierra, and Scissor Chrono from the recommended F2P auto dungeon run group.

  • Secret Dungeon Spawning

If you get considerably lucky with Medina pieces in Jack’s Puzzle on a stored account, you can try to spawn dungeons for your main account by temporarily friending it. A particular character this is useful for is Rock Ignis.  You want a few of these characters for Guild Conquest, and the easiest way to get him is to farm him out of the Medina Secret Dungeon.  You could also use this as a way to farm 4★ fodder if you manage to spawn the right dungeon.  Even one of the recommended characters for F2P auto dungeon running, Paper Soho, is available in this way through the use of Jin Map Pieces.
