Challenge Revue
The Complete Guide for the Boss of PVE
Foreword
Challenge Revue (CR) was designed to be the most difficult PVE content in the game, as the unit requirements for completion are about as onerous and restrictive as they come. Despite that, the dedicated efforts of many, have poked weaknesses in there, and theorycrafted various ways to take down those girls. This guide summarises all existing knowledge and ways to defeat the Challenge Revue, and will be continually updated as more strategies surface.
Part 1: Ultimate Goal of CR
Challenge Revue’s goal is to collect enough of a special currency, Round Table Proofs, which can be used to obtain Challenge Revue Girls. Themed around the Knights of the Round Table, the two currently available are Lancelot and Gawain. More are expected to be added in the future.
Lancelot Gawain
They both have their own Round Table Proofs, and the Lancelot & Gawain Challenge Revues will interchange every month.
This is the shop screen where you would obtain these stage girls. As you can see, you require a total of 16,000 Round Table Proofs in order to get a 6✦ Challenge Revue Girl.
Every month, you can obtain a set amount of rewards based on the number of Challenge Revue girls defeated.
In addition, you can earn some more from the Assignments page. Clear each of the first three girls five times each to get a total of 30 proofs, Arthur five times for 300 proofs, and Lancelot five times for 1500 proofs.
Therefore, here’s a little table to give you a rough idea on how long you are going to need to gather proofs in order to unlock the Lancelot mega-prize.
Lancelot Boss | (Not counting double drops like the current season)
Defeating | Proofs given | Time required to obtain Lancelot Mahiru
(1-time reward) | (Repeats 5 times) | Total | 4✦ Lancelot | 6✦ Lancelot

This is why we are saying Challenge Revue is a feature intended for whales.
However, there are still ways for casual players to take on the challenge!

Part 2: CR Mechanics
You have 5 attempts, and there are 5 bosses. Ideally, you would attempt to take down every boss in one try, but it also means for non-whales who obviously can’t, we can dedicate multiple attempts to some of the mini-bosses. If you find an attempt to be less than ideal, you can reset without penalty.
All the girls, memoirs, and revue songs used in an attempt cannot be used again. As such, upgrading multiple copies of memoirs is common practice.
In addition to the normal acts and Climax Acts of the bosses, each boss has an Opening Act and an Ending Act. Their Opening Acts trigger only at the beginning of every attempt, whereas the Ending Acts trigger at the end of every x turns.
Part 3: Minibosses
Kagura Hikari (Moon)
Just look at the damage of the opening act!
Opening Act | Perfect Aim to self. Deals huge damage & stun to front 3.
Climax Act | Attacks Front 3 | 2AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attack Backmost | 3AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attack second from Back | 3AP |
Ending Act | Stuns Front 2 (next turn) | Every 2 turns |
Verdict
The most devastating part about this boss is her Opening Act – which can be mitigated by using a girl with a passive Area Provoke. At the moment, those are Monte Cristo Shizuha (Gacha 4✦) and Young Lady Elena Nana (Event 3✦). This will cause the damage to be redirected to only the provoker, who will be immediately sent to 1HP. Put a fortitude memoir on her to last a few more hits.
Other than that, her normal acts and Climax Act deal fairly little damage, as she only attacks twice a turn. A tank also isn’t required as she targets from the back.
Even if you don’t have either, it is still possible to clear her in 1 attempt, though it’s more unreliable.
Suggested Builds for Hikari Miniboss
The front 3 girls are sacrificial lambs; placed there for their Unit Skills and expected to disappear immediately. Pirate Misora’s Stun Immunity (3AP) and Musketeer Hikari’s self-dodge 2AP are crucial in ensuring that they survive, avoid the stun provided by the boss, and deal damage.
B. With Elenana
C. With Elenana and Bride [Safest]
Elenana takes the Opening Act, and two more hits, thanks to her double fortitude memoir. Afterwards, it’s a simple battle to the death, and try to time Bride’s CX with the bosses’ CX, thereby negating the damage with invincibility. The winning margin is so wide that the listed team usually completes the fight with only Aruru and Nana defeated. Another variation with Pirate Misora (R5.0 in example) instead of Pirate Aruru is also viable.
Daiba Nana (Cloud)
Nana increases the AP requirements of your backmost group by 1.
Nana also stacks fortitudes as the match goes on..
Opening Act | Increases AP requirement by 1 to the backmost group.
Climax Act | Attacks Front 3Attacks Front 4 when HP <50% | 2AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attacks Frontmost | 1AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attacks Front 2 | 2AP |
Normal Act 3 | Attacks Front 3 | 3AP |
Normal Act 4 (below 50% HP) | Attacks Front 4 | 3AP |
Ending Act | Grants herself 1 Fortitude | Every 2 turns |
Verdict
This boss has several troublesome parts:
- Nana’s normal acts target so many units. Below 50% HP, your whole team can take up to 9 hits within a single turn (CX + 3AP + 1AP). This needs to be mitigated by using a tank that Provokes enemies, with Sun Nation Maya (Ad-gacha 4✦) being the one best choice. This reduces the hit count to 3, which are all directed Maya, protecting your damage dealers. Her provoke also comes with a normal barrier, so make sure you level her up adequately.
- Nana will cause your entire backline 1 more AP for each card. Kamikari holds a 4AP card.
- Nana stacks fortitudes. You either need units that burn or poison her such as Pandora Misora (Gacha 4✦), or you need to manually clear off her multiple fortitudes at the end.
This makes Nana a really hard boss at first glimpse, but we found a magical way to cheese it.
Suggested Build for Nana Miniboss (Be amazed!)
– Onikage Rui and Sun Nation Maya
Tank Maya should be upgraded as much as possible (R9.5 US 18+). Rui should be of at least R9.
The principle behind this tactic lies in Onikage Rui’s and Sun Nation Maya’s 3AP abuse. Maya provokes Nana, delaying her from striking Rui, giving time for Rui to stack well over 10 evasions.
The fodder who is a backliner enables you to ignore Nana’s AP increase onto Onikage; while
The fodder who is a midliner activates the Unit Skills of both Onikage and Maya (how convenient).
STEP 1 – OPENING
In turn 1, you must get rid of the 2 fodders.
The best opening would be Onikage’s 3AP act, since she takes 1 hit by Nana’s 3AP attack regardless.
Do not have Maya provoke Nana, because that would be gambling the backliner fodder’s survivability; hold it for the next turn.
STEP 2 – TANKING
In turn 2, there should only be Rui and Maya left.
Maya and Rui both have 3 acts, so there are only 6 potential cards to draw in total.
Hold Maya’s 1AP, and you shall always have the 2 correct cards to pull in the future:
For every subsequent turn, repeat using Maya’s 3AP provoke and Rui’s 3AP evasion.
Nana is locked to attack only Maya that way, while Rui can stack up her evasions.
If your Maya is levelled enough, her barrier should be able to negate 1 strike from Nana (0 DMG), which is very useful when she’s down to her fortitudes.
STEP 3 – FINISHING
You’re on a good run if you are able to stack more than 10 evasions on Rui.
At the turn after Maya falls, Rui is all that is left, with fully stacked evasions to last at least 3 more turns. Repeat using Rui’s 3+1+1+1AP to clear out Nana’s remaining HP as well as her fortitudes.
Rui’s CX gives 3 hits, so use it on a 1HP Nana if you’re really low on evasions.
And there you go! This tactic is safe, reliable, and efficient.
Shoutout to 天破壤碎 from the Chinese community for engineering this amazing strategy!
Notes:
- It has been theorised that Pandora Misora and Nutcracker Claudine (Gacha 4✦) can also accomplish this feat, due to being able to attack twice per turn, and dealing 25% more damage than Onikage Rui, even though they do not have the ability to stack evades.
- With decent luck on criticals, Amaterasu Hikari (Gacha 4✦) is also able to do the same strategy as the above, prioritizing damage output in place of stacking evasions. However, due to her being a backliner, she will be afflicted by the AP increase, making her much more unreliable than Onikage.
Alternative Build for Nana Miniboss
–Pandora Misora & Sun Nation Maya
STEP 1 – OPENING
Similarly:
In turn 1, you must get rid of the 2 fodders.
Do not have Maya provoke Nana, because that would be gambling the backliner fodder’s survivability; hold it for the next turn if it shows up in your hand.
STEP 2 – TANKING
In turn 2, there should only be Misora and Maya left.
Maya and Misora both have 3 acts, so there are only 6 potential cards to draw in total. The sequence is as follows: Maya 3AP Taunt, Misora 2AP, Misora 1AP. Use the hold function to ensure you always get Maya’s taunt. However, after two turns, Misora will be at 82 brilliance (34 + 7 + 34 + 7). This time round, use Maya 3AP Taunt followed by Misora 3AP Poison. This will charge her CX. The following turn, use Maya taunt + Misora CX + Misora 1AP. After Nana goes below 50%, she can use two 3AP moves, which can actually allow Maya to take 0 damage for that turn, lengthening the amount of time she can tank for.
When Nana is down to her fortitudes, use the poison at your discretion to burn through them quicker. Only one poison tick is needed at a time, though. The battle should end as seen below:
Tendo Maya (Wind)
Opening Act | Gives self 3000 Regeneration per turn. Permanent
Climax Act | Attacks Front 3 | 2AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attacks Front | 1AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attacks Front 2 + Self Evasion | 2AP |
Normal Act 3 | Attacks Front 3 (4 hits) | 2AP |
Ending Act | Grants herself 1 Evasion | Every turn |
Verdict
The frustration in defeating this boss lies in Maya’s duality in her attacks: she has a 4-hit small attack on 3 units and a 1-hit huge attack on the front 2 (plus evasion!). Have a tank that provokes Maya, such that Maya only hits her in a whole turn. 2 choices: Mona Lisa Hikari or Momo Nana (Gacha 4✦).
To address the multi-hit, Arthur Karen (Gacha 4✦)’s counter-heal ability turns it to an advantage. Without her in unit, you’ll instead need multiple very strong Flower DPSes to complete the CR quickly. See suggested builds for details.
Her CX is extremely hard-hitting, so you should have a card that grants others evasion always ready with the hold mechanic. A good advice would be to use Pirate Shizuha (Ad-gacha 4✦).
Her Ending Act is also troublesome, as that means she evades twice every turn, rendering your units’ CXs useless. Therefore, remember to have all your units (+-tanks) hold a permanent perfect aim memoir. Drama Rui (Ad-gacha 3✦) will always be the most common, easily obtainable choice.
Suggested Builds for Maya Miniboss
A. Standard Build – Example 1
The principle behind this build is Arthur Karen’s counterheal allowing for the revitalisation of the tanks to near or full HP.
Any two of the three Flower tanks available at the moment (Hercules, Momo, Mona Lisa), Arthur Karen, and a selection of two from Tamamo Maya, Sherlock Karen, Pirate Shizuha, Halloween Kaoruko.
Due to the use of multi-hit attacks, consider the usage of the SoD Barrier/Regeneration memoir, which may provide more survivability.
Phase 1: Tank(s) are alive.
Prioritize charging Arthur’s CX. Hold Shizuha’s 3AP dodge and use it the turn before Maya’s Climax Act, giving you the opportunity to dodge it, and the same applies to Momo Nana’s taunt/dodge..Also liberally use taunts, though ensure that no taunt is in place when you use Arthur’s CX, ideally allowing both your tanks to be healed. It should be possible to pull off one to two counter-heals in this stage.
Phase 2: Front 3 are defeated.
In this phase, you should be able to pull off one CX from your single target attackers, and Arthur should be able to get off another CX, which should fully heal her.
As an alternative for those without Arthur, this tactic may be used, whereby Halloruko (or Tamamo) survives for a turn or two extra with Doctor Akira’s heal. Akira usually only pulls off her CX when the front 3 are dead. If you use Shizuha, the same principles of dodging Maya’s CX apply.
Saijo Claudine (Space)
Opening Act | Gives 10% HP-based burn to all enemies (5t)
Climax Act | Attacks Front 3 | 2AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attacks Front | 1AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attacks Front 2 | 2AP |
Normal Act 3 | Attacks Front 3 | 3AP |
Ending Act | Gives 2% HP-based burn to all enemies (1t) | Every turn |
This bosses’ main gimmick is her burn, and the resultant counters are those that can remove Burn. Benzaiten Fumi and Nurse Yachiyo are important in removing and guarding against burn; and the rest of your slots can be filled with moon attackers.
Lu Bu Mei Fan’s self-dodge can be stacked and enable her to finish off Claudine after then rest of the team is wiped.
Due to Claudine’s very low damage output, once the opening act burn is cleansed, the battle is easy.
Isurugi Futaba (Moon)
Opening Act | Perfect Aim to self. Deals huge damage & confusion to front 3.
Climax Act | Attacks all enemies + Chance of confusion | 2AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attack Backmost | 3AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attack second from Back | 3AP |
Ending Act | Confuse Front 2 (next turn) | Every 2 turns |
This is almost a carbon copy of Hikari, but with confusion instead of stun. The recommended units are almost the same, except that Misora is not as useful and can be switched out for someone else.
Part 4: Bosses
Arthur Aijo Karen (Flower)
Opening Act | Give Counterheal to self (2000/hit)
Climax Act | Attacks Front 3 | 3AP |
Normal Act 1 | Attacks Front | 1AP |
Normal Act 2 | Attacks Front 2 | 2AP |
Normal Act 3 | Attack Front 3 | 3AP |
Normal Act 4 (below 50% HP) | Attacks Front 2 + Stop | 2AP |
Ending Act | Stop backmost | Every turn |
Suggested Builds
1-attempt clear (with Ryugu Ichie)
Due to the stop backmost effect and Ryugu Ichie’s stop resistance, she’s necessary for a 1 turn clear. NY Tsukasa, Dracula Claudine, Musashi Nana, and Goddess Akira are all good attackers, though Jubei and Tengu Ichie are generally needed to make the team tanky enough. though theoretically a less ideal replacement for Jubei Rui would be Little Match Girl Yachiyo or Lancelot Mahiru.
1-attempt clear (without Ryugu Ichie)
While a standard team with 3* Benikage Fumi as the backmost is theoretically possible, the astronomical US requirements on the other units and very good luck with criticals means that this is generally a non-viable strategy. Instead, consider using Amaterasu Maya, as her CX can knock off 30% of Arthur’s HP each time. Tsukuyomi Claudine is also another possibility.
