ReLive International Version Reroll Guide

The purpose of this guide is to point new players who are interested in this game’s real-time PvP mode in the right direction. A general overview of each 4★ girl will be provided in hopes of allowing players to make an informed decision and get off to a strong start. Since the metagame in ReLive changes rapidly and is currently very different than it was at launch, information will be provided both on how well the character performed during JP’s launch, and how well they currently fare on JP. Note that this guide primarily focuses on PvP and not on PvE. Some characters who are extraordinary in PvE may be noted, but do keep in mind the that best PvP girls do not always perform well in PvE. In addition, there were many seasonal events in the Japanese version of the game and it is possible that the event and character release order is changed in the international version.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

There is a banner that guarantees a 4* girl, where you can keep rerolling the result as much as you want. This banner is only available for 24 hours of starting your account.

There is also a discounted step up banner where the first step costs 1500 gems and the second step costs 3000, but guarantees a random 4* girl.

The recommended strategy to maximize the number of 4*s you start your account with is:

  1. Do the first step of the step up banner for 1500 gems. If you don’t get a 4*, reroll.
  2. Do the second step for 3000 gems for a second 4*. Reroll if you don’t get something you like.
  3. Farm another 3000 gems within 24 hours (should be easy by clearing story missions) and pick any 4* girl you want.

Starting with three 4* girls will be a massive help.

tl;dr

I want my roll to be useful for a long time:

I want to win NOW:

I’m sick of going through the tutorial, so I’ll just stick with this:

This is my best girl and I’m picking her no matter how bad she is:

If you’re unfamiliar with any of the terminology in this guide, there’s an encyclopedia of terms that you may find to be a useful reference: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Oank_bBDQRxA9ry_q64D4FQoq_rgYuve_JZ8A46IVKA

Aruru

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: Support
  • Type: Cloud
  • Row: Back
  • Damage Type: Physical

+Consistently dominantes the PvP ladder. Is on a majority of top teams every season.

+One of the best 3 APs in the game. Allows her teammates to fill their Brilliance bars faster.

Being a support unit, she requires a squad of good characters (preferably with AoE climaxes) to reach her full potential.

If you’re okay with a slow start to your account and want to invest in the future, Aruru is the way to go.

+3AP skill only costs 2AP.

+Innate fortitude, with extra fortitude gained through her climax.

+Barriers for everyone!

Lowest Norm Defense of all tanks. Sky Akira and Musketeer Hikari can tear through her.

Maya

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: Tank
  • Type: Cosmos
  • Row: Front
  • Damage Type: Physical

+Only 4★ tank available at launch.

+Superb defensive stats coupled with her barrier-granting and ACT-down abilities make her incredibly difficult to take down.

+AoE climax

Is outclassed by most 4★ tanks released post-launch, making her long term appeal questionable.

+Dream typing and high offensive stats allow her to dish out damage faster than anyone else at launch.

+AoE climax.

+Trivializes most story missions. Want people to follow you? Set her as your guest and watch your follower count skyrocket.

Dream typing and awful defensive stats means she dies very quickly. Will crumble against AoE teams.

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: Defender
  • Type: Flower
  • Row: Middle
  • Damage Type: Physical

+3AP grants dodge to two of her allies, making her incredibly frustrating to fight against.

+AoE climax.

+Innate Fortitude

+Great defenses allow her to protect her backline after the tank falls.

Lacks a Brilliance gain 2AP.

Multi-hit climax attacks eventually become common, mitigating the usefulness of dodge.

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Damage Type: Physical

+Excellent matchup against Heracles Michiru, one of the strongest tanks in the current meta

+Freeze status synergizes well with teams that use non-damaging moves.

Phantom Nana

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: DPS
  • Type: Moon
  • Row: Middle
  • Damage Type: Special

NOT AVAILABLE IN THE REDO OR STEP UP BANNERS!

+Phenomenal PvE character. Melts bosses with her climax.

+Highest ACT and second highest agility on the EN server at the moment.

+Second highest ACT and 6th highest agility on the JP server.

+Tired of Maya taking forever to kill? Pnana is your solution.

Awful defensive stats cause her to crumble against AoE teams.

Walled by Heracles Michiru due to being a special attacker.

Was not used on many top PvP teams on JP, but has seen a recent resurgence in popularity due to good synergy with new characters (Easter Shizuha)

Mahiru

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: Support
  • Type: Moon
  • Row: Middle
  • Damage Type: Physical

+Her ridiculous speed stat is seemingly immune to powercreep, as she remains the fastest character in the game even 6 months after launch.

3AP gives a mediocre stat buff to the whole team, but hey, a stat buff is a stat buff.

Group attacks are hard to use early in the game’s life since common team compositions only use one frontliner and one midliner, essentially making her climax single-target.

Kaoruko

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role: Disabler
  • Type: Moon

  • Damage Type: Special

+Has a great matchup against Maya thanks to her moon typing and special damage.

Stun. It’s nice to have and could turn the tide of a match, but is incredibly unreliable. Her slow speed also prevents her from stunning an enemy right before they climax.

FAQ

Q: Should I bother rerolling?

Absolutely. Pulling 4★ characters in this game can difficult. Assuming the WW version functions similarly to that of the JP version, gacha rates will be poor (1.2% for a 4★ character) and acquisition of the premium currency needed to roll the gacha will be slow. You can reroll as much as you want, so why not get a headstart?

Q: How does rerolling work? Does it take long?

After playing through the tutorial and spending your beginner gems, from the home screen, click on “Other” then “Return the the Title.” On the title screen, click on the “Support” and then “Clear Player Data” buttons. This will allow you to reroll without having to uninstall the game and redownload the data each time.

Q: Are 3★s any good?

Even when raised to 6★s, 3★ girls will have significantly lower stat totals than their 4★ counterparts. Although it’s not recommended to reroll specifically for any 3★s, there are some noteworthy ones you should be on the lookout for.

Lalafin

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role:  Tank
  • Type: Wind
  • Row: Front
  • Damage Type: Physical

While Lalafin pales in comparison to Maya in terms of raw stats, she more than makes up for it in utility. Her 3 AP is an AoE that inflicts ACT down on all enemies and her climax is another AoE which inflicts burn.

She offers so much utility that she’s the only 3★ who still occasionally sees play among the highest ranked teams on JP, 6 months after launch.

Claudine and Michiru

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role:  Tank
  • Type: Cloud / Ice
  • Row: Front
  • Damage Type: Physical

Including these two together since they both serve a similar role. If you’re unable to pull Maya or Lalafin, these two will be able to fulfill your tanking needs until you’re able to upgrade.

Nana

Short Term:

Long Term:

  • Role:  Nuke
  • Type: Dream
  • Row: Middle
  • Damage Type: Special

Essentially a Yachiyo-lite. Her dream typing makes her far and away the best 3★ DPS in the game. Unfortunately her fragile nature and middle-positioning make her a risky play.

Q: What about 2★s?

In general, no. If you completely fail to get any 3★ or 4★ tank, then you’ll have to make due with a 2★ tank. There are three of them:

Every account receives Karen for free, so don’t feel ashamed if you have to use her until you pull something better.

Q: And memoirs?

Much like 3★ characters, rolling specifically for a memoir is not advised, but there are a few exceptional ones that you should keep your eye out for. In short, any memoirs that give Brilliance and/or Fortitude are what you’re looking for.

Lower rarity memoirs are also extremely useful and you’ll quickly find yourself using several 1★ memoirs on your team and few, if any, 4★s. This is because your teams are limited in how much cost they can have and 4★ memoirs are just too expensive.

Below is a brief overview of what to look out for.

Q: I spent days rerolling for an account with Maya, Yachiyo and Junna just like you suggested, but I just got destroyed by a team using Tamao! What the heck? This guide sucks!

In the very early stages of the game (the first week or two,) the most important factor for winning isn’t necessarily who you have, but rather how much you’ve leveled what you have. Getting your best characters to 6★s, rank 7, and level 30 bond as fast as possible will be the best way to find success.

Note that there is a feature which allows you to spend stargems to refill your stamina (so that you increase your girls’ ranks faster) and farm extra talent crystal searches (so you can increase their ★ rarity faster,) but this is generally not recommended. Unless you’re aiming to be at the top of the PvP ladder, you should avoid refreshing your resources with gems as the gem costs adds up fast and the time you save leveling up will be insignificant in the long run.

Q: Cool, I got what I wanted from my reroll. Now what should I save for?

I hesitate to suggest too much here for two reasons:

1) The release order may be unpredictable. Many events in the Japanese version were seasonal and it’s possible that characters don’t get released in the same order to avoid having situations like a Christmas event in the middle of summer.

2) What you save for will largely depend on the needs of your team, as some girls fit better on specific team compositions.

I will say however, that many of the game’s most oppressive strongest units release during the game’s monthly double rate banners known as “Kirafest.” On the Japanese server, the first Kirafest occurred two months into the game’s life and featured our Lord and Savior, Amaterasu Hikari (pictured below)

Since these banners feature both increased rates and powerful units, saving for them is never a bad choice.
