Genshin Impact contains certain activities and features that make it unique from other open-world games, as all RPG games do. One of these features is Resin. Many newcomers and even some older players still have difficulty understanding Resin’s usage and how it affects your gameplay.

Resin
The Resin bar is located at the top-left corner of your screen, and it is identified with a blue Moon icon. First of all, you must regard Resin as the energy system of the game. If you decide to roam the World Map to farm and play, you can do so without the need for Resin or to even refresh the Resin bar for any style of gameplay you select. Nevertheless, you must understand that Resin is necessary to take part in some content in the game.
How to Use Resin
Level Prerequisites
In regards to game level, it is advised to use your Resin for Ley Lines if you are AR level 15 or below or even if you are level 20 and below. You can use Ley Lines Outcrops for various activities, like money, character experience, etc. It doesn’t matter what activity you decide to invest your Resin. The Ley Lines Outcrops are available after reaching level 8. Therefore, you should begin using your Resin from this point forward.
The Resin bar has two numbers divided by a dash. In any situation, you should always aim that the first number is lower than the second number. The first number is the amount of Resin you have, and it can overlap, while the second number is the maximum Resin level for your current game level. It would help if you tried to have less than the maximum level, so the game continues to regenerate Resin. It takes around seven to eight minutes to replenish 1 point of Resin. Therefore, your Resin bar can be filled to the maximum in a day.
World Bosses
Once you have reached between level 15 and 20, you should analyze the World Bosses available to you. This is because you should commence farming the crystals and fragments of each element. If you are unable to slay the World Boss just yet, then you can visit the Vendors shop, specifically in Marjorie and Mondstadt, that sell the crystal and fragments.
Learn how to kill these World Bosses so you can earn adventure experience, loot, gear, and other rare items. However, not all loot is available from the get-go. Your Adventure rank determines the loot that drops. Therefore, you might earn 2-star or 3-star gear initially. Once you have reached Adventure level 30, the rate of 4-star gear begins to appear. The rates are more common and consistent upon reaching level 35.
5-star gear
5-star gear is available to you as loot after reaching level 40. The 5-star gear becomes more common after reaching level 45, and it is practically candy when you have reached level 50.
World Bosses
One of the biggest necessities for Resin is World Boss fights. With Resin, you can kill World Bosses to obtain materials or to build a hero. For example, you must slay the Ice Boss in the Cryo Resvine to farm Shivada Jade Fragments, essential for building a special hero unit, like Chi-Chi. The Electro Hypostasis features another World Boss and drops lightning materials for lightning heroes. If you need fire materials, you must slay the Fire Boss located at the Pyro Regisvine. All the previous activities require Resin to execute them.
You should know that you are only able to do World Bosses once a week. Apart from farming building materials, you can also do these fights for weapons, gear, accessories, armor, and more.
However, most players can grasp the basics but find it confusing certain aspects of it, like how much to use, when to use, and how it is affected by your game level. Thus, it is important to follow certain recommendations.
Domains
As said previously, you can begin to do World Bosses fights when you have reached level 15 to 20. However, there are other locations that you can use your Resin. One of these locations is Domains, which contains other items that you can opt for farming. An advantage of Domains is that you can use the resources available each day. This makes it easier for you to decide if you need certain materials and, thus, invest your Resin for these activities.
If you want to farm Talent Books, then you can farm at the Taishan Mansion. Remember that Talent Books are necessary to upgrade your abilities. Another location for farming Talent Books is the Forsaken Rift.
When to Use Resin
You should use Resin when you need materials. It is as simple as that. If you need materials to ascend your characters, upgrade your weapons, acquire gear and equipment, you should begin using your Resin. If you also want to enhance your abilities, you should invest your Resin as well. If you do not need farm materials, then the Resin should be used for World Bosses.
Should You Refresh Resin
You can refresh your Resin by clicking the Plus Button next to your Resin Bar, and it costs a certain amount of Primo Gems. Apart from this, you also obtain Fragile Resin as you progress through the Story mode. It obtained as you reached certain ranks. These items can be used as free refreshes.
Ideally, you should not refresh if you focus on Summons and the story progression is not your main goal. However, if you want to invest money in the game or farm materials to acquire certain heroes, refreshes can be useful. You can aim for the lowest refreshes according to your necessities.
