Korwa 101

If you’re not a Wind memer, you’re probably reading this document for this section.

Korwa is a very straight forward character. The ideal is that you press her skills once, and never press them again.

Several things you need to know before we get started:

  • Korwa relies on Fil. If you don’t have Fil, you can’t use her skills and her Ougi is literally useless.
  • Korwa starts a battle with 3 Fil. She naturally gains 2 Fil per turn. However, if she is hit during a fight (and takes damage) then she gains an additional +2 Fil (for 4 Fil total). Being hit multiple times does not give you more.
  • Because her Ougi does not do damage, it does not count towards your Chainburst. This means you can only ever hit a max Chainburst of three if you run Korwa.
  • You want to have Korwa at level 75+ for the reduced Fil costs to use her skills.

How to use Korwa

The standard Korwa rotation is as follows:

  1. At the start of the battle, just autoattack through. Assuming she doesn’t get hit though, it takes 4 turns to reach max 10-Fil.
  2. At 10 Fil, use Des Vetements (red skill).
  3. Wait two more turns to hit max Fil again, assuming she doesn’t get hit.
  4. At 10 Fil, use Noir et Blanc (black skill).
  5. Wait 1 more turn to hit max Fil.
  6. OUGI

This setup takes 7 turns total. And yes, it’s really that simple.

You will note, however, that Korwa is not suited for fights that end very fast because she won’t have time to charge up.

Sometimes you may vary the first Ougi pattern. If you’re in a fight where the enemy multiattacks a lot (e.g. Yggdrassil Omega), you can try using some skills earlier and hope to make up the difference later from being hit.

Typically Korwa is placed in the 4th position in your team to benefit from being fed Ougi meter from the rest of your team. You can also place her second so that on the turn she Ougis, everyone later will benefit from the increased Fil effects. However, this only matters for the first Ougi (since all subsequent Ougis will just be extending buff duration) and generally you won’t use Korwa in short fights.

Keeping the buff train rolling

Korwa’s buffs have a timer on them, so you will need to Ougi with her to keep extending them.

If you have…You get…
1-3 Fil1 turn extension
4-6 Fil2 turn extension
7-10 Fil3 turn extension

If you already have the max 10 Fil buffs rolling, using Ougi to extend buffs at a lower Fil does not overwrite the 10 Fil buff. Conversely, using a higher Fil Ougi will improve any existing buffs that are already active.

This also means that using first Ougi at 7-9 Fil is not awful if you’re under pressure to start fighting fast. If you get a 10 Fil Ougi off later, it will upgrade your buffs to the 10 Fil version. Using Ougi below 7 Fil is a waste however because you want the maximum buff extension at all times.

There are two important things to be aware of here:

  • There is no point to using your Ougi at 10 Fil is you already have the 10 Fil buff active. If you find yourself capping on 10 Fil before you Ougi but already have a 10 Fil Ougi in place, feel free to drop Col (green skill) on someone for the DEF buff and refresh. You only need 7 Fil for the max buff turn extension, so the extra Fil is “wasted”.
  • You only gain 6 Fil naturally over 3 turns. That means for 100% buff uptime, Korwa needs to be hit at some point every 3 turns. This means she’s really good in fight with a lot of AoE or multiattacks, such as Grande Order raids.

Oh no, her buffs timed out!

This happens to all Korwa players at one point or another. Maybe you couldn’t generate the Fil fast enough. Maybe your multiattack RNG was bad and she couldn’t get enough meter to Ougi again. It sucks, but that’s the price you pay for Korwa level of power.

If you find yourself in a place where you can’t Ougi in time to extend buffs, then start saving Fil so you can bring your buffs back online ASAP.

The most common way this will happen is when you have 1 turn of Des Vetements (red skill) remaining, 2+ turns of Noir et Blanc (black skill) remaining, and you’re JUST one turn short of being able to Ougi. In this case, if you have 10 Fil a trick you can do is let Des Vetements expire, and then next turn use it again and Ougi immediately. Noir et Blanc will be preserved as a 10 Fil Ougi and given a 2 turn extension from the 6 Fil Ougi, and you have a 6 Fil Des Vetements running. It’s not optimal, but it keeps the buff training rolling which is important if you’re at a crucial stage in a fight. You can work your way back up to a 7+ Fil Ougi later.

Tips for people in other elements

EarthEugen is a popular combination with Korwa because he can feed her a ton of meter. It also fits nicely with Tezcatlipoca. (Do be aware that using Eugen means that you will not be able to use Ayer in a Tezcat team.)Generally you don’t want to use Eugen’s uplift skill on the first Ougi rotation because it’s a waste. However, if you haven’t multiattacked with your team at all and you’ve just used Noir et Blanc (black skill) and realise you’re not going to make it to Ougi next turn, it might be worth considering.Autoignition has a 12 turn CD. Your first Korwa Ougi will take 7 turns, and Uplift will give you charge bar generation breathing room for another 5 turns. So it’s not a bad idea to use Autoignition early. It guarantees you will hit first Ougi on time even if you have awful multiattack rate luck and saves Uplift for later. And it will be off CD by the time your second Ougi is done.Octo/Eahta is another Ougi batter that you can use with Korwa. However, many Earth players run Hallessena in HL for their dps which conflicts with Tezcat’s race requirements.
WaterQuatre/Feower pair very well with Korwa because Avirati can extend her buffs by one turn. This gives you enough breathing room to generate that 7+ Fil naturally. This is a popular combination for Grande teams.Water also has many characters that can act as Ougi batteries such as Altair, and Lilele.
FireLess commonly used in this element, but the multiattack is useful given how many characters in Fire have echo effects.Anthuria is noteworthy because she gives all allies Uplift, which helps with Ougi management. Anila is also capable of helping with Ougi generation, but is a limited character.
LightKorwa competes with Ferry as the main source of multiattack, and both require use of the Ougi bar. If you run Ferry, don’t use Korwa.
DarkCommonly paired with Seox/Six due to his ability to snowball into a massive attack monster who desperately craves a source of multiattack. Also does decently well supporting Beatrix, who is yet another attacker who wants multiattack.
