XII. FAQ

Is my team good?

On iOS, the game downloads a large (more than 600 MB) update whenever I restart the game. Is this normal?

I’m transferring devices (iOS to Android or Android to iOS). Will my progress be saved?

How does Cancel Affinity work?

I have X units whose movement speed is 2 or less. Why aren’t they getting buffs from Attack Tactic/Defense Tactic/Resistance Tactic?

Contents

I. New Free Heroes

  • As part of 2017’s Choose Your Legends event, you can get one of four “Brave” heroes for free: Ike: Brave Mercenary (Green), Lyn: Brave Lady (Gray), Roy: Brave Lion (Red), and Lucina: Brave Princess (Blue). Under Summon, one of them should be the Free Summon: Brave Heroes banner which gives a free neutral Summon, where you get to pick one of the colored orbs to indicate your choice. They’re all potent.
  • Completing Book 2 Chapter 1 gives you a neutral Fjorm: Princess of Ice, who is a Water Element Legendary Hero (more on Legendary Heroes later).
  • Completing Xenologue 3 gives you a neutral Vanguard Legend Ike, who is an Earth Legendary Hero.
  • Players who made an account before 2018/05/09 will receive a 4★ Takumi: Wild Card along with 13,200 feathers and several shards and badges as a present.
  • As part of 2018’s Choose Your Legend event, you can get one of four “Brave” heroes for free under the Arrival of the Brave banner: Veronica: Brave Princess (Gray), Ephraim: Sacred Twin Lord (Green), Celica: Warrior Priestess (Red), Hector: Brave Warrior (Blue). Under Summon, one of them should be the Free Summon: Brave Heroes banner which gives a free neutral Summon, where you get to pick one of the colored orbs to indicate your choice. They’re all potent.
  • Completing Book 3 Chapter 1 gives you a neutral Eir: Merciful Death, who is a Light Element Mythical Hero (more on Mythical Heroes later).

II. Banners

There are 4 types of banners:

  • Regular banners which give a 3% chance for 5★ Focus characters and another 3% for 5★ characters. Each month, you can expect a regular banner featuring new characters, and a regular banner featuring seasonal (i.e. not necessarily available in future banners) characters.
  • Hero Fest banners which give a 5% chance for 5★ Focus characters and another 3% chance for 5★ characters. These are usually available once every quarter, and new players will always have access to the latest Hero Fest banner for a few days.
  • Legendary banners which gives a 8% chance for 5★ Focus characters (and 0% chance for other 5★ characters) but features 3 characters per Orb color. This is the only way to get Legendary characters and previous seasonal characters. They are usually available at the end of each month (or at the start of each month in some cases).
  • 4★ banners which, in addition to providing the same chances as regular banners, they also provide 4★ Focus characters and a 29% chance to obtain them. Features 3 characters per Orb color. Good for obtaining units used for Skill Inheritance or units you need multiple copies of.

Also, your first pull in every banner is free.

III. Sacred Seals (2017/04/12)

Sacred Seals are items that can be equipped on characters, and occupy their S-slot. They usually replicate A/B/C skills, and there are a few skills which are available only as Sacred Seals.

They usually start out as Level 1 versions of their corresponding skill, but can be upgraded via Sacred Coins and Badges.

To unlock this feature, you need to complete Chapter 13 and Intermission: A Power Awakens.

You can earn Sacred Seals from quests, events like the Tempest Trials, or craft them at the Sacred Forge.

You can earn Sacred Coins from Arena, Arena Assault, and quests and events.

To craft or upgrade a Sacred Seal, you can click on the Sacred Coin icon at the top right corner of your castle.

Fire Emblem Heroes will no longer be releasing previously-released Seals as rewards. Instead, they will eventually appear as craftable Seals at the Sacred Forge.

For more info, see

https://feheroes.gamepedia.com/Sacred_Seals_(Guide) and  https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/sacred-seal-forging

IV. Weapon Refinery (2017/11/28)

Some weapons can now be upgraded.

To unlock this feature, you need to complete Chapter 13 and Intermission: The Rite of Blades.

You can upgrade weapons by spending Arena Medals and either Refining Stones or Divine Dew (for Legendary Weapons).

You can earn Arena Medals from Arena.

You can earn Refining Stones from Arena, Arena Assault, and quests and events.

You can earn Divine Dew from events like Rival Domains and Blessed Gardens, and by refining weapons using Refining Stones.

Some characters can also learn new weapons when they are promoted to 5★ which includes healers. Just click on Learn Skills to see these.

Under Advanced Growth, you will get these options.

Summoner Support: Pick one character, and they will get a stat bonus (+3 HP, +2 RES at the start). The more fights they complete, the higher their Summoner Support Rank will be. At Rank S, you can get +5 HP and +2 to ATK/SPD/DEF/RES. Will inherit ranking upon merging, will lose all of the benefits upon changing your Summoner Support pick.

Ally Support: You can have as many unique pairs as you want. Pick two characters. When they are adjacent to each other, they will get a bonus depending on their rank. That bonus is halved if they are 1 tile away. At the lowest Rank, it starts at +2 Res, while at the highest Rank, +2/ATK/SPD/DEF/RES during combat.

  • Legendary Heroes get double SP.
  • When it is the Legendary Hero’s season (see top left icon as each week, there are four elements, two of which apply to Legendary Heroes) and they are in the same team as a character with the corresponding element, the character receives a stat bonus. These stat bonuses will vary depending on the Legendary Hero.
  • Legendary Heroes or characters with Blessings are required to play the Blessed Gardens.

XII. FAQ

Is my team good?

To complete the new game modes and quests, you don’t need just one team, but several teams. Be sure to have at least (these are non-exclusive and can overlap) the following:

  • One team for each movement type for various quests.
  • One team for each elemental blessing for Blessed Gardens and various quests.
  • Five teams with unique characters for Squad Assault.
  • Seven teams with unique characters for Arena Assault.
  • 20 unique characters for Rival Domains.

On iOS, the game downloads a large (more than 600 MB) update whenever I restart the game. Is this normal?

This happens when your iOS device doesn’t have enough free space. You should allot at least 1 GB or more of free space on your device.

I’m transferring devices (iOS to Android or Android to iOS). Will my progress be saved?

As long as you linked both devices to your Nintendo account, your progress will be saved. However, Orbs do not transfer across platforms, so Orbs on iOS will not carry over to Android and vice versa.

You can juggle the game between two different devices running the same Operating System (i.e. two Android devices, two iOS devices). Just don’t open them at the same time.

How does Cancel Affinity work?

Any weapon triangle affinity granted by unit’s skills is negated. If affinity disadvantage exists, weapon triangle affinity granted by foe’s skills is reversed.

First, Cancel Affinity works only if the enemy unit has a skill that increases their weapon advantage. This usually means either the Triangle Adept skill, or they have one of the gem weapons (Ruby Sword/Sapphire Lance/Emerald Axe) equipped.

Second, such skills usually increase their Weapon Advantage by an addition 20% (or 40% total if you include their natural Weapon Advantage). What Cancel Affinity does is negate this extra bonus.

Here’s an example:

Stahl is a red cavalry unit. Normally, when facing green units, he deals 20% damage more, and receives 20% damage less. However, he is equipped with a Ruby Sword, which increases this bonus by an additional 20%. So against green units, he deals 40% damage more, and receives 40% damage less.

If he is facing a green unit with Cancel Affinity, that green unit will remove the extra 20% he receives, and passes it on to the green unit. So in effect, both Stahl and the green unit have a 20% bonus against each other, which basically neutralizes each other’s bonuses (i.e. damage is calculated normally).

I have X units whose movement speed is 2 or less. Why aren’t they getting buffs from Attack Tactic/Defense Tactic/Resistance Tactic?

At start of turn, grants Atk/Def/Res+6 to allies within 2 spaces for 1 turn. Granted only if number of that ally’s movement type on current team ≤ 2.

The wording on the Tactics skill could be phrased better.

Basically, it will only work on characters on your team if the number of characters they share a movement type with is 2 or less. For example, it will trigger on all the units if you have 1 Flier, 1 Armored unit, and 2 Cavalry units. But if you have 3 Infantry units (or 3 units with the same movement type), they will not trigger it.
