PART 1 : Begining the game

After you downloaded the game and did the first level, here’s the first question you’ll have: WHAT TO DO ?

In Bleach : Brave Souls, you’ll be introduced to 3 different types of gameplay : PVE (player versus environment, AKA story, substories, events), CO-OP, in where you’ll play pve levels with other players in real time, and PVP, which is automated.

by Actual Bleach

You’ll be also confronted to a little quest series to choose a free 5★ from a batch of 6 characters right after you started.

There are 6 types of rarity for the characters, going from 1★ to 6★. Bleach : Brave Souls revolves its gameplay and meta around 5★ and 6★ characters.

The main way to obtain those characters is to have SPIRIT ORBS, which is the “premium” currency of the game, other being gold (which is used in many ways).

In order to obtain those orbs, you have two choices : Buying them with real money, or farming them in game. Here’s the main ways to obtain orbs :

– Finishing a pve level -> gives 5 orbs max, every level provides 5 orbs and can’t be obtained again from the same level. those levels can either be events levels, or story/sub-story levels.

– Doing coop -> each level you finish with people you’ve never played with will grant you 3 orbs/new people you’ve met, you can obtain up to 600 orbs with this.

– Maxing a character -> max leveling a character can provide orbs, you cannot max the same character over and over, once a character is maxed, maxing another exact same character won’t provide any orb. obtained orbs varies by the level of the maxed char : 1★ provides 5 orbs, 2★ provides 10, 3★ provides 25, 4★ provides 35, 5★ provides 50 and 6★ provides 75.

– Finishing orders -> in Bleach : Brave Souls, you’ll have dailies, weekly, free (permanent) and event orders. Those orders are missions that rewards you with xp crystals, gold, accesories, tickets, crystals, jewels, hogyoku, characters and ORBS. Doing all your dailies provides 5 orbs per day, it’s up to you to check every order and complete these for more orbs.

there are other ways such as gift box orbs (given by developers, often after an update.), or orbs gained in point events.

When you’ve obtained a decent amount of these orbs, it will be time to prepare yourself for a sea of salt and sugar, to enter the realm of chaos and randomness : It’s time to PULL.

PART 2 : Managing your orbs

Here’s the system Bleach : Brave Souls is based on, which is based on RNG (random number generating, or simply randomness)…we call that a “Gacha” (based on Japan’s Gachapons, machines in where you put a coin in, then it gives you a toy among a batch of other toys that you can see on a banner sticked on the machine. Japanese people often put coins after coins in the machine until they get the little toy/figurine they wanted).

There are 2 types of gachas so far :

Character Gachas, divided into :

-premium summons gacha, which contains EVERY 5★ character so far in the game, EXCEPT seasonal ones. It is NOT RECOMMENDED to pull in premium, because the chances of you obtaining the character you want in it are VERY SLIM, since the very large amount of 5★ in the pool divides A LOT the probability of you getting what you want.

PREMIUM GACHA IS PERMANENT *chances for specific 5★ char : 0.04% per pull*

-seasonals gachas, that are limited (comes ONCE per year or ONCE at all), seasonals usually are up for real life events such as Summer, Halloween, Christmas, New Year…

USUALLY TAKES PLACES LONGER THAN OTHER GACHAS

-x2 gachas : usually at the end or beginning of the month, a gacha with double chance of 5★ (6%/pull) introduces new characters and have “filler” characters in it (filler units are characters not shown on the banner)

USUALLY IS UP FOR A WEEK *chances for specific 5★ char : around 0.67% per pull*

-classic gachas : usually based on a certain type of characters at once (example : only SPEED “blue” characters), classic gachas are actually the safest way to get a character you really want, as they do not contain “filler” characters in it that divides the probability of obtaining the character you want. these gachas have the normal 5★ rate/pull which is 3%.

During Mid-month, you usually have a classic gacha that introduces new 5★.

You can also encounter gachas that might have characters that have nothing in common, those are called “brave selection”.

USUALLY UP FOR 4 TO 7 DAYS *chances for specific 5★ char : 1% per pull*

Character gachas will make you use the most important currency of the game : spirit orbs.

there’s two ways of pulling a character : by using SINGLE SUMMONS, that costs 25 orbs, or MULTI SUMMONS that make you pull 10 characters at once, that costs 250. There is no difference between single and multi summons concerning luck, except that pulling a multi GUARANTEES you at least a 4★ character. It is up to you to use your orbs, as you might wanna use them ALL to have a character you really want, or keeping a safe amount for later, even if you didn’t pull what you wanted.

KEEP IN MIND YOU OFTEN WON’T END WITH THE CHARACTER YOU AIMED FOR.

Accessories Gacha

There is one and only gacha that covers accessories, and stays permanently, like premium gacha. pulling one accessory will cost 15, a multi summon (no 3★ or 4★ accessory guaranteed) will cost 150.

There are two option concerning you about this gacha : being Free-to-play, or Pay-to-play, as accessories gacha is mainly here to help you having accessories you want faster, at the cost of orbs. As a free-to-play player, YOU DON’T WANNA PULL in accessories gacha UNLESS you want to skip the grind that awaits you to obtain good accessories. Most of the accessories can be obtained by simply playing the game, and only 2 accessories are exclusives to this gacha, and they’re not necessarily required for you to have a great “build” on your character. they’re good, but not overpowered.

—————————————————

That being said, keep in mind that orbs are PRECIOUS, you NEVER wanna waste them on reviving in coop (at the cost of 2 orbs per revive), and unless you don’t have space anymore in your box -optimize your space by getting rid of units you don’t care about or need-, don’t buy loads of space inventory yet, NEVER BUY GOLD → no exception !!! And you don’t wanna use them to level up the Soul Tree of a character. And unless you’re liking it a LOT and are aiming for the top, don’t use orbs for pvp tickets, as they recharge every 24 hours, and daily orders provides lots. You also don’t want to use orbs to buy soul tickets, which are the blue tickets at the top left of your screen, that fully recharge every 1h15, 15 min per ticket.

Keep also in mind that Klab made the game so you can always enjoy it (at the cost of a hellish grind, but that’s why it’s fun !!) while staying Free-to-play, as they provides new incomes of free orbs frequently (new free characters to max, events, new story/sub-story…), so you can enjoy every future content by playing frequently, for free.

There are 2 types of orb spenders :

-> the compulsive spender, that will always pour orbs into a gacha, only for the sake of pulling

-> the patient spender, that will stack orbs for a long time, waiting for the gacha containing the character he want before going all out on the said gacha until he pulls his character.

(there’s also the “midrange” spender, that stacks orbs but not too much, and pours them here and there while saving a good amount for other gachas to do the same method again, we don’t know much about these strange people.)

While being compulsive is fun, but leaves you with almost no orbs everyday, being patient is rewarding, or really disappointing as you might not pull what you want given the large amount of orbs you had. kinda a double-edged sword.

Now, it’s up to you to manage your orbs the good way, may the RNG be with you !

PART 3 : Characters

Here’s the most important aspect of the game, it’s characters.

Most 5★ and 6★ characters have unique gameplay, which mainly consist of NORMAL ATTACKS, 3 STRONG ATTACKS, AND 1 SPECIAL ATTACK.

While 1★ and 2★ characters don’t have a special attack, 3★ and 4★ can access 2 strong attacks and a special attack.

Each character has a COLOR that defines his AFFINITIES, and most have a TYPE (soul reaper, captain, arrancar, espada, and hollow).

There are 5 colors in total for characters : RED (power), BLUE (speed), GREEN (technique), ORANGE (mind), PURPLE (heart).

Here’s how they work in PVP and PVE : RED >GREEN > BLUE > RED

A stronger color will inflict bigger damage (+50% damage) to it’s counterpart and the weak color will inflict 30% LESS damage.

ORANGE and PURPLE are NEUTRAL colors, meaning they’re not involved in the red/blue/green system, so they don’t deal any bonus damage or receive less from them.

HOWEVER, ORANGE and PURPLE will inflict 50% bonus damage to EACH OTHER.

Keep all that in mind to play properly in pve, co-op and pvp !

Characters are classed by 6 rarities :

-1★, that goes to level 40 max -> obtainable by playing story

-2★, that goes to level 50 max -> obtainable via story, events, co-op, BRONZE TICKETS

-3★, that goes to level 60 max -> obtainable via story, events, co-op, BRONZE, SILVER, BRAVE TICKETS, gachas, and rarely in MEDAL EXCHANGE.

-4★, that goes to level 70 max -> obtainable via events, BRONZE, SILVER, BRAVE, GOLD TICKETS, gachas, co-op as RAID CHARACTERS, and rarely in MEDAL EXCHANGE.

-5★, that goes to level 100 max -> obtainable via FRENZY EVENTS, statistically speaking in BRONZE, SILVER, BRAVE, GOLD and 100% chance with RAINBOW TICKETS, gachas, co-op as RAID CHARACTERS, MEDAL EXCHANGE, and newly in CHARACTER PACKS, at the cost of real money.

-6★, that goes to level 150 max -> obtainable through EVOLVING a 5★ to a 6★ using HOGYOKUS with a 100% soul tree 5★ character that has an evolution. ONLY 5★ CAN BE EVOLVED; and soon in AWAKENED GACHAS, containing 5★ already evolved to 6★.

Each character has a SOUL TREE that can be upgraded through CRYSTALS.

CRYSTALS have the same 5 colors as the character’s and accessories, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to use one specific color of crystal for a character, as most characters need EVERY color of crystals to have it’s soul tree progress further.

CRYSTALS can be found in a matching-colored level (ex : a RED stage will provide mainly RED crystals); in co-op levels (Fusion trials co-op level is a good pick); in events, event lotteries, event orders, and MAINLY in CRYSTALS TRAINING GROUNDS, that have the following schedule (GTM +1) :

MONDAY is RED DAY

TUESDAY is BLUE DAY

WEDNESDAY is GREEN day

THURSDAY is ORANGE day

FRIDAY is TRAINING GROUNDS : GOLD day ———————-↓

SATURDAY is TRAINING GROUNDS : GOLD day (reliable when you lack gold)

SUNDAY is PURPLE DAY

CRYSTALS TRAINING GROUNDS are the quickest way to have a specific color of crystal in large number quickly.

CRYSTALS are divided in 3 rarities :

– small crystals, easy to have in large proportions

– medium crystals, can either appear in large or few proportions, sometimes leading to a           “i have shittons of smalls and larges, but no medium !!” case.

– large crystals, that drop in few number.

You wanna invest these crystals in your useful character’s soul trees, as SOUL TREES upgrades you character’s statistics, which are the following :

– Attack, which is upgraded through RED crystals. the attack determines your NORMAL ATTACKS and participates aswell in the STRONG ATTACK DAMAGE calculations.

-Spiritual Pressure (or sp), which is upgraded through PURPLE crystals. determines your STRONG ATTACK DAMAGE aswell as SPECIAL ATTACK damage.

– Focus, which is upgraded through ORANGE crystals. determines your chances at inflicting CRITICAL ATTACKS (which are displayed through ORANGE NUMBERS on the screen instead of white)

– Defense, upgraded through BLUE crystals, determines your damage resistance in PVE and CO-OP.

– Stamina, upgraded through GREEN crystals, determines your maximum health.

EACH UPGRADE DEMANDS CRYSTALS AND GOLD. You DON’T wanna use those crystals in 1/2/3★ characters as you start the game, maxing your first 5★ would be wiser.

– Soul Traits

You will notice another upgrade branch at the right side of the tree : this upgrades the SOUL TRAIT.

A SOUL TRAIT is a native bonus every character has, that influences its statistic, in various way. Some soul traits can also influence the DROPRATE of crystals, jewels, and gold.

Here are the many links you will encounter :

Attack, that increases the attack stat by a fixed number

Defense, that increases the defense stat by a fixed number

Stamina, that increases the stamina stat by a fixed number

Focus, that increases the stamina stat by a fixed number

Spiritual Pressure, that increases the stamina by a fixed number

last ditch survival : revives you after your death ONLY ONCE per level/battle with a limited amount of stamina

See all these traits above ? YOU WANNA AVOID THEM as they’re considered BAD traits, especially for LINKING.

Here are the traits YOU WANT TO USE in the future :

Normal Attack Damage, that increases the damage output of your normal attack by a percentage based on your own stats

Strong Attack Damage, that increases the damage output of your strong attacks by a percentage based on your own stats

Cooldown Reduction, that REDUCES the time required for a strong attack to be usable again, based on your strong attacks cooldown time

Damage Reduction, that reduces EVERY INCOME of damage by a percentage, however, doesn’t protect you from STATUS INFLICTING DAMAGE (poison, fire…)

Dodge, that makes your character IGNORE attacks when dodge is triggered. Dodge is percentage-based, and works like this : if you have 11% dodge soul trait, you will have a 11% CHANCE to DODGE the next attack you’ll receive.

Status protection traits, that reduces the time you’re under a STATUS EFFECT inflicted by an opponent, by a percentage based on how long the said status should work. Exists for PARALYSIS, POISON, FIRE, FREEZE and CONFUSION.

Field recovery, that heals you in pve, event and co-op stage each time you clear a room and go to the next; is percentage-based and heals you by a fixed percentage of your total health.

Gold coin drop, that increases the amount of gold you’ve earned after a level by a percentage. works like this : when you have finished a level, you’ll have a fixed amount of gold. your link will multiply it by its percentage.

Crystal drop rate, increases your crystals and jewels droprate, works by percentage the following way : in each level, a mob will have ??% chances of dropping you a crystal/jewel. your link increases this number by it’s own percentage, making mobs drop more crystal/jewel.

– Ascending your characters

In Bleach : Brave Souls, units cannot directly achieve their max levels through xp farming alone : you’ll need to ASCEND THEM first.

to ASCEND, you’ll need to have characters you’re READY TO SACRIFICE (use mainly 1 to 3★ characters, as 4★ are precious in many ways at the beginning.) to the character you wanna improve through ascension. TO DO SO, INSPECT your character by long-pressing on him, then you’ll see 2 options : SOUL TREE and AUGMENT. you wanna press AUGMENT.

AUGMENT lets you manage your ACCESSORIES and CHARACTER LINKS, but we’ll come back on those later. what interests you here is the ASCENSION part.

To ASCEND, you can either drag and drop the units you wanna sacrifice below the ASCENSION XP BAR, or simply CLICK on them.

You can ascend a unit 4 TIMES total, each ascend will AUGMENT ITS MAX LEVEL BY 5.

Each rarity need a fixed amount of xp to ascend :

-1★ needs 2500 ascension xp/ascension level -> 10000 xp total

-2★ needs 5000 ascension xp/ascension level -> 20000 xp total

-3★ needs 10000 ascension xp/ascension level -> 40000 xp total

-4★ needs 45000 ascension xp/ascension level -> 180000 xp total

-5★ needs 90000 ascension xp/ascension level -> 360000 xp total

-6★ needs 180000 ascension xp/ascension level -> 720000 xp total

Here are the values of “sacrificed characters” :

-1★ gives 1250 xp

-2★ gives 2500 xp

-3★ gives 5000 xp

-4★ gives 22500 xp

-5★ gives 45000 xp

-6★ gives 90000 xp

But here’s something that might get your ascensions faster : characters sharing the SAME NAME, REGARDLESS OF RARITY, will provide DOUBLE THE ASCENSION XP.

Feeding a character to a duplicate character (ex : 3* ichigo in a 3* ichigo) will DIRECTLY GIVE A FULL BAR OF ASCENSION XP. Doing that (with duplicates ONLY) will also INCREASE the SPECIAL ATTACK POWER of a character, you can do that up to 4 TIMES to increase SPECIAL ATTACK LEVEL to maximum power. Works with EVERY DUPLICATE, plus feeding a 5★ to its 6★ Evolved counterpart will give double xp ascension AND ascend its special attack level.

Now that your character is fully ascended, you can max level him for good, EXCEPT with 5★ and 6★, that need to get their level increased again after full ascension, by BUYING level upgrades through the SOUL TREE, using crystals/jewels and gold.

Non-ascended characters will have a native max level : 1★ are lv20, 2★ are lv30, 3★ are lv40, 4★ are lv50, 5★ are lv60 and 6★ are lv100.

– Evolving your characters

As you’ll progress through the game and maxed your first 5★ unit (which will probably be the free renji you gain by killing your first 3000 enemies, or of of the characters from soul reaper challenge, that lets you choose between a batch of 5★), and MAXED ITS SOUL TREE, you’ll notice an “EVOLVE” button that replaced the soul tree, meaning you’ll have the possibility to obtain your FIRST 6★.

However, it has a cost, and that cost will be either 3 HOGYOKU or 5 HOGYOKU (For frenzy characters and free renji “freenji”).

A HOGYOKU is a jewel-class item that can be obtained the following ways :

– finishing all your WEEKLY ORDERS

– through EVENT ORDERS, and POINT EVENT REWARDS

– through ANY CRYSTAL/JEWEL training ground level (low droprate)

– by BUYING MONTHLY PACKS at the cost of real money.

– through MEDAL EXCHANGE

BUT STOP !! YOU DON’T WANNA EVOLVE NOW !!!

You want to select carefully which unit you’ll be evolving first, and consider multiple things such as :

– 6★ start at level 1 and requires double the ascension cost of a 5★

– this unit will be, for a while, probably WEAKER than its 5★ version until you’ve leveled him enough and upgraded its soul tree at an advanced state.

– DON’T EVOLVE FREENJI unless you really have no other choice, since he costs the luxurious amount of 5 Hogyokus, and is still pretty weak even as a 6★

– You want to have its SOUL TREE MATERIALS for the most part before evolving him, as EVERY 6★ (except monthly, free FRENZY characters) needs JEWELS, used to upgrade a 6★ SOUL TREE, and nothing else, and (except seasonals characters and FRENZY characters) RAID CHARACTERS. these can be obtained through really hard quests called RAIDS that can be played in solo or co-op. We’ll talk this through later.

JEWELS can be obtained in many ways, such as :

– Training grounds : jewels

– event lotteries

– event orders

– RAIDS

– MEDAL EXCHANGE

– KON CORNER, at the cost of FRIEND POINTS.

You obtain FRIEND POINTS by bringing an ally in a solo level. Friend points can buy xp boosts, and allows you to play in kon’s corner to win various CRYSTALS and JEWELS.

Added Friends will give you 20 friend points for each quest you take them on (which it should say right below their name), and people not added will give you 10 points.

(ACTUAL BLEACH’S CONSTRUCTION ZONE)

– 6 character skills

RAID CHARACTERS are used to unlock special SKILLS in 6★ soul trees, which are :

– Adrenaline : Increased Normal attack speed

– Berserker : Increased Strong attack damage

– Blast zone : Increase Special Attack AOE (area of effect)

– Bombardment : Increased number of special move hits

– Bruiser : Increased Normal attack damage

– Debilitator : Increased Duration of inflicted status ailments

– Devastation : Increased Special Attack Damage

– Enhancer : Increased Buff skill duration

– Flurry : increased normal attack hits

– Frenzy : increased strong attack hits

– Havoc : increased strong attack AOE

– Long reach ; increased normal attack AOE

– Long stride : increased flash-step (manual dodge, by swiping your finger on the screen during a pve or co-op level) distance

– Paralysing spirit : adds a paralysis effect to the SPECIAL ATTACK

– Poise : negates stagger effect when taking damage (you CANNOT be interrupted during your attacks when you get attacked)

– Shackling spirit : adds slowing effect to your SPECIAL ATTACK

– Sprinter : increased number of flash-steps (aka the number of flash-steps you can do in one dodge)

– Weaken Attack : adds a weakening effect to the SPECIAL ATTACK

– Weaken Defense : adds a weakening effect to the SPECIAL ATTACK

EVERY 6★ has its own set of skills. some skills are so good they actually turned bad 5★ units into GOOD 6★ units !

RAID CHARACTERS can be maxed to obtain ORBS from them, don’t neglect that before feeding them to a 6★ SOUL TREE !

PART 5 : Accessories

by Marquise

-introduction about accessories-

Accessories may seem confusing at first, but they are worth the struggle, as they have the potential to double some of a character’s stats. While there may not be many accessories at first, they will come as you play, and significantly power up your characters.

There are six accessories you can obtain from basically anywhere: events, co-op, story mode, etc. These accessories simply boost one of the 5 stats. Like characters, accessories have ratings also, and are stronger depending on the rarity.

1★ accessories increase a stat by a maximum of 10%

2★ acceeesores increase a stat by a maximum of 16%

3★ accessories increase a stat by a maximum of 20%
