What are accessories and why do I want them?

Accessories are the lifeblood of your characters in this game. They can either highlight your character’s strengths or show a severe lack of understanding/creativity of your unit depending on the choices that you make. You must understand not only the effect given by the accessory, but also how it affects your unit in order to create an effective build.

Attribute Matching

You should ALWAYS aim to match the attribute of your accessory with the attribute of your unit, because it will yield a double bonus (e.g. If the base bonus is +5%, then you’ll receive +10%). Keep in mind that accessories will only boost based on your raw stat, so adding +Attack character links will have no effect on a +Attack % accessory bonus.

Basic Accessories (1★ to 3★)

These are accessories that affect the five main stats of your unit; they come in all attribute colors:

  • Memory Replacement: +Focus (1★ +10%/2★ +16%/3★ +20%)
  • Cookie: +Stamina (1★ +10%/2★ +16%/3★ +20%)
  • Gokon Tekko: +Attack (1★ +10%/2★ +16%/3★ +20%)
  • Shinten: +Spiritual Pressure (1★ +10%/2★ +16%/3★ +20%)
  • Cape: +Defense (1★ +10%/2★ +16%/3★ +20%)

The 1★ and 2★ versions of these can be obtained on any Coop stages or specific weekly events which have accessories in their drop pools as a random drop, while 3★ versions must be pulled from the accessory gacha or fused (more on that later).

Gacha/Fusion-Specific Accessories (2★ to 4★)

These are accessories that can only be obtained by pulling on the accessory gacha by any means (orbs or summoning tickets) or fusing .

Attainable through Fusion and Gacha:

  • Seireitei Bulletin: +Exp (Available in all Attribute colors up to 2★; Purple, red, and Blue for 3★;  Purple and Blue for 4★ and 5★)
  • Hojiku-Zai: +Healing Effect (Available in all Attribute colors up to 2★; Purple, Green, and Blue for 3★;  Yellow and Blue for 4★ and 5★)
  • Karakurizer Watcher: +Coin drop (Available in all Attribute colors up to 2★; Purple, red, and Green for 3★;  Red and Green for 4★ and 5★)
  • Headband of Justice: (Available in all Attribute colors up to 2★; Purple, red, and Blue for 3★;  Purple and Blue for 4★ and 5★)
  • Tenshintai: +Special Effect; This only affects the Special attack, not strong attacks. (Green and Red versions available only as a 4★ and 5★ item)
  • Chappy Dispenser: +All stats; SP is set to zero (Yellow, Purple, and Blue versions available only as a 4★ and 5★ item)

Attainable only through Gacha:

  • Spirit Core: -Status ailment duration (Available in all Attribute colors up as a 4★ and 5★ item)
  • Shihoin Shield: +Ranged damage protection (Available in all Attribute colors up as a 4★ and 5★ item)

Fusing Accessories (1★ – 4★)

To get higher than 2* accessories you will need to fuse. Fusing is when you spend 2 of your maxed level 2★ accessories in order to achieve a 3★ Accessory.. Fusing accessories can be a long process as the accessory you will receive will be completely random. Fusing accessories is easier for Japan players as they have access to Immutable Balls.

Immutable balls are accessories that allow you to fuse accessories without the randomness. Immutable balls allow you to fuse accessories together to increase its rarity without changing its type .

Here are a few examples of this:

  • 1★ Gokon Tekko + 1★ Shinten = Random 2★ Accessory
  • 1★Gokon Tekko + Immutible Ball = 2★ Gokon Tekko
  • 2★ Karakurizer Watch + 2★ Shinten = Random 3★ Accessory
  • 2★ Karakurizer Watch + 2★ Immutible Ball = 3★ Karakurizer Watch

This rule applies to all 1★ – 4★ Accessories except the Chappy Dispenser and the Tenshintai.

This will be one of the longest processes in creating your accessory as you have a 1/13 chance of getting the accessory you want. Take note that no matter what 4★ accessory that you get it useless, once you have leveled them to 5★ they will roll an extra stat that can still make them better than the regular 2/3★ Accessories!

5★ Accessories

So you’ve finally managed to create the 4★ Accessory you’ve always wanted, now you need to level it up and make it into a shiny new 5★ In order to do that you will need to first max its level and then get 10 Evolution Powder and 1 Book of Secrets, these can be gotten from the powder trials in co-op. The powder and book have to be the same attribute as the accessory you’re evolving.

Once you have met all the requirements, you’re ready to beg RNG for a good secondary stat on your 5★ Accessory.

These are the following stats you can roll as a secondary:

  • Attack (6% Max / 20% Max / 30% Max)
  • Defense (6% Max / 20% Max / 30% Max)
  • Stamina (12% Max / 24% Max / 40% Max)
  • Focus (6% Max / 20% Max / 30% Max)
  • Spiritual Pressure (6% Max / 20% Max / 30% Max)
  • All stats (6% Max / 10% Max)

Some of these stats can either make or break your accessory depending on which you get. An example of this would be a Chappy Dispenser, if you read the description you would see that it reduces your Spiritual Pressure to 0, so why would you want a secondary that has Spiritual Pressure on it?

If you roll below the bonuses of a 1★-2★ Accessory, you should keep using that 1★-2★ Accessory until you can reroll it into something better.

Rerolling

If you managed to create a couple of 5★ Accessories but you’re not happy with the stat you rolled you should try rerolling the stat. You can re-roll the stat on an accessory by fusing a 5★ Accessory into the Accessory you want to reroll. Unfortunately it will be re-rolled at random and the 5★ Accessory you fused will be gone.

The chance of getting a stat is as follows:

  • All Stats (Max 3%) – 3.3%
  • All Stats (Max 5%) – 1%
  • Increased Attack (Max 3%) – 9.8%
  • Increased Attack (Max 10%) – 3.7%
  • Increased Attack (Max 15) – 2.6%
  • Increased Defense (Max 3%) – 9.8%
  • Increased Defense (Max 10%) – 2.2%
  • Increased Defense (Max 15%) – 1.6%
  • Increased Stamina (Max 6%) – 9.8%
  • Increased Stamina (Max 12% – 13.7%
  • Increased Stamina (Max 20%) – 9.9%
  • Increased Focus (Max 3%) – 9.8%
  • Increased Focus (Max 10%) – 4.6%
  • Increased Focus (Max 15%) – 3.3%
  • Increased Spiritual Pressure (Max 3%) – 9.8%
  • Increased Spiritual Pressure  (Max 10%) – 3.2%
  • Increased Spiritual Pressure  (Max 15%) – 2.3%

You can reroll an accessory as many times as you like as long as you have the 5★ Accessories to do so. It may take a lot of rerolls to get the stat you want, but it’s worth it.

So which accessories should I equip?

This is question that everyone always makes and the answer rests in your hands. Depending on what you’re trying to accomplish as a tactic/build, you must choose accessories that highlight those qualities. If you’re going for a caster heavy build, then Shintens and 5★ accessories with +Spiritual Pressure secondaries are far more valuable to you than +Attack effects.

Think about what your overall objective is and build around that; fine tune anything to your liking, not the liking of others.

There are no good 4★/5★ for my build! What gives?!

What many people still fail to realize to this day is that the intrinsic value of a 4★ accessory isn’t really on what you get, but the attribute that you manage to obtain. Most “worthless” fusion-specific 3★ accessories will suddenly become extremely valuable in their 4★ versions, because of the random secondary effect that you can achieve once you evolve to 5★. You’re solely interested in the secondary effect, not the base effect.

Think of most 4★ as a blank canvas which you need to roll for it to be usable.

Which are the most valuable 4★ accessories?

All 4★ are valuable, so the question that you should be asking is which 4★ have a good base effect. The exceptional base effects for 4★ accessories are Chappy Dispensers, Headbands of Justice, and Shihoin Shields.

The grind for a 4★ fusion is endless! How likely am I to get a 4★ from Gacha?

Roughly the same odds as a 5★ unit (~3%); getting a specific 4★ has a 0.13% chance of occurring, because there are 23 possible 4★ accessories in the gacha pool.

Should I pull from gacha? Everyone tells me to just farm, but I’m getting squat.

We have differing views on the matter, so we’ll address it separately.

LittleEmp: It is my belief that luck is a cruel mistress and you are unlikely to find all the 3★ accessories that you want by farming and fusing before going mad, let alone the 4★. I would definitely pull some accessories as soon as you have a strong core of units as an F2P player (Strong core refers to at least 3-4 different attributes that you are satisfied with).

Muppie: I personally think that if you are a P2P player or just want to skip some of the co-op grind it’s worth to pull in the accessory gacha. If you manage to pull a 4★ Accessory from the gacha you’ll save yourself tons of time in the long run. I would also recommend not pulling in the accessory gacha until you have a good selection of characters.

Whew! I pulled a Chappy! Should I use it?

LittleEmp: In my opinion, no. A chappy dispenser sacrifices all your SP for a moderate increase in stats, which turns your strong attacks into very flashy damageless moves. The only case where I would consider it is if you were to roll a +30% attack or +40% Stamina; and only if that aligns with your overall combat strategy.
