Puzzle and Dragons Monster Hunter Guide

Some thoughts on Whale Hunter REM. Overall there is a reasonable amount of value in this REM, but diablos is only needed as a friend leader since it is unlikely you ever run 2x of him. Quick comments and impressions below based on usefulness in the endgame.

With the increased cost per roll and the fact that the lower rarity monsters are  generally in the good-not-great tier (as opposed to the most similar REM to this in Heroine where Meri as a 6* was Tier 1 and Julie was a solid tier 2 roll), there is probably going to be a lot of sadness amongst the small fish.

One of the most hyped cards in quite some time, but a bit overrated in the sense that you can just leech off a whale who has him. There is generally no need to roll him yourself. TBH I highly doubt people will wind up using him much outside of new challenge dungeons and a few CMode clears because you need everyone in 3p to run 7×6, and there are no co-op dungeons that can’t be button swiped by abusing shared skill boost.

My take on this guy, especially after seeing the general state of the NA playerbase in random play dungeons is that he is way overhyped for the amount of play that he will see.

Although not as hyped by the masses as diablos this is probably the best card in the collab for endgame players (by far). A card with heart ping that actually does damage too (thanks to 2x 7c awakenings) with good stats and especially high hp? Also unbindable? What is game balance tbh. Anyway, a key sub to use heart ping while still outputting damage, works decently in 5×6 and even better in 7×6 where its easier to heart column and also 7c. GungHo no longer releases anything with damage absorb since they realized just how broken fujin is, so now everything is either void or resolve. This card is the best card to deal with resolves.

Spawns fire orbs but its not in a row so you can’t even swipe with him. Has some uses for playing double ganesha valten because then you can actually enhance the orbs that you make, but aside from that extremely niche usage he is probably going to just gather dust.

Essentially a Light Meri which may sound pretty good but there are no actives that actually let you do anything with him. There isn’t a light equivalent of Toshiro, MGoemon, or Sado so you generally either have to make do with 1 row or match some orbs around, neither of which are very good options. Inb4 JP gets a light full board with Shonen Sunday 5.0 or whatever and NA never gets it (or gets it in Voltron 3.0 )

Anything that changes columns/rows that are not on the outer edge of the board will always have a niche use in making guaranteed combo boards. Aside from that he also has heart ping awakening so if you fail to roll amatsu he somewhat works as a replacement (less dmg, more sb, bindable as tradeoffs)

This guy looks pretty useless

Matching in 4 seconds is literally not possible. All enemy lasers are always good though.

A lot of people are still missing on a lower inheritable poison than Neptune/Rodin (15 turns) because they don’t have chibi lilith/etc, so a 12 turn inheritable poison is a clear improvement that a good chunk of the playerbase would find useful since Jorm makes a shitty board when it poisons.

Same as the guy who makes a red column. Non-outer row/column makers are niche for combo setup boards.
