Introduction/Core Questions
In GirlsXBattle there are a lot of game features. One of the game features is guilds. As early as level 32 you can create or join one. Players join guilds for various reasons. Some don’t. As you continue to read consider these three questions.
1)Why are guilds useful?
Guilds have multiple uses. The useful features of guild include guild wars, guild event, and tea party.
2)Why are guilds useless?
They aren’t entirely useless though. The same feature that make the guild useful can be just as useless.
3)That does not seem this way so why are they useful and useless at the same time?
The actual actions theoretically make the game easy. In reality though their efficiency can be lowered dramatically by various reasons. In order to prove so let’s go over the theoretical and actual efficiency of the 2 major guild functions.
Theories
Theory 1: Guild war is a decent indicator of how strong a server generally is and a way to learn composition building
Reality
This can be an indicator of a servers strength but not entirely. A strong server will have good results from guild wars. In reality the likelihood of all the good players in 1 guild is slimmer due to various reasons. Nonetheless, guild wars are good way to learn general composition building. If a comp succeeds in guild wars generally it can be used in multiple game modes.
Is there a way to improve this flaw?
There are a couple of logical ways to fix this. The quicker way perhaps is to change guild wars to server wars. This has its own flaws but is a plausible option. The other option is the harder option. It is simply to get all of your best players into 1 guild. This is harder to do than one thinks cause of various reasons.
Theory 2: Guild events benefit larger guilds than smaller guilds.
Reality
For the most part guild events should benefit bigger guilds. In certain situations though smaller guilds benefit way much more than bigger guilds. Let’s take a situation that is likely into perspective.
Situation 1
So let’s say there are 2 guilds. Guild A and guild B. Guild A has max amount of players and they are all active. Guild B is a much active guild and is just as active. Guild A however only has half their members trying to do damage. Furthermore, all the members are fighting for gear. On the other hand, guild B has all its members doing damage and can clear the same speed as guild A.
What is wrong with the situation?
Guild B by far will benefit more. For one there is less members fighting for gear. Meanwhile, Guild a has an advantage of theoretically clearing a few times of x chapter before guild b does. The fact that members are mooching gear while contributing nothing results in a strain of gear.
What would happen if all Guild A members contribute?
In the case if all members contribute and with decent damage a few results may happen. For one clear speed will shoot up. Another few results include the production of gears and coins go up. So let’s say guild a after getting all members to contribute clears a chapter in 3 days and guild b clears in 5. This results in guild a clearing x chapter 10 times in 1 month and guild b clears 6 times. What is the difference? Let’s compare. Let’s say 20 gears on average drop for x chapter. Here’s the calculations for different situations.
Calculation 1(Top damage vs top damage)
Guild coin A: (1500×10)+(7day clear reward x10) = 15000+10x
Guild coin B: (1500×6)+(7day clear reward x6) = 9000+6x
Calculation 2(Top damage vs middle? damage)
Guild coin A: (1500×10)+(clear x10) = 15000+10x
Guild coin B: (750×6)+(clear x6) = 4500+6x
Calculation 3(Middle? damage vs top damage)
Guild coin A: (750×10)+(clear x10) = 7500+10x
Guild coin B: (1500×6)+(clear x6) = 9000+6x
Calculation 4(Gears)
Gear A: 20×10 = 200
Gear B: 20×6 = 120
The Conclusion
The faster you clear the bigger in disparity
it creates. Even if you deal less damage in guild A you will generally outscale the amount of coins as the top damage dealer in guild b if you are generally in the middle. In a bigger guild the coin distribution will accelerate for those are consistently top damage or low damage. One thing that hinders however is more members means the spread of gear is thinner.
Wouldn’t it be better than to join a smaller guild solely for gears?
Answer is simply no. The odds are a bigger guild will clear faster and you will clear slower than the actual example. The faster guild will have more teams guild resulting in the trickle effect into guild wars which benefit even more.
What if the bigger guild doesn’t have all of its members participating?
There’s a few ways to approach this. The first approach is to kick those who don’t do the event and to fill in those with people who do. This generally is the best option but can lead to conflict. The other approach is situational. Basically you just spam chapters for lower level players to clear. This results in a coin increase and for general low level staple gear(pads, sunglasses, riot shields). This can catch up lower level players but on the downside hinder higher level players from gearing their level.
I need x amount of x gear(s) but it’s always out. What do I do?
This will commonly happen. Only thing you can really do is join the waitlist. Ideally you want to spam the chapter so much that you don’t need it anymore. This all depends if a guild is cooperative.
A large amount of members can’t do chapter x because they have not cleared it. What do I do?
Again this situation falls under members not participating. Generally it’s more beneficial if you spam a lower level in order for members to progress. On the other hand, if it’s just a small minority, you may consider not to opt into it or just plain kicking them. If you choose the catch-up method, the members that were behind have no reason not to participate. Simply put you may have to consider kicking them for the reason of delaying the guild’s progression.
What if I can’t do guild event on x day(s) cause of x reason(s)?
This depends on your communication. Simply talk to the members of your guild.
Theory 3: If a server is motivated enough they will cooperate to combine/merge guilds optimally/efficiently.
Reality
If it was more simple than it would done more often. Simply put, not everyone is going to cooperate. Since the limit is 50, there are restrictions in the case of a server having over 50 players and less than a 100. Let’s say a server has 90 players how do you optimize?
Optimization Method 1
In a perfect situation this would proceed to happen. First of all not all the best players would be in 1 guild and evenly distributed between 2 guilds. Then you simply even out with the same process for the decent players and the lower level players.
Optimization Method 2
In this situation, you basically get all the best players in 1 guild. This can be volatile or produce positive results. It can be volatile if the weaker players quit or complain. This can result in no moves being made. Meanwhile, it can result in a stronger guild with weaker players progressing in order to meet the requirements.
Reality
The case of this happening varies depending on servers. It all depends on human nature. There are going to be some servers that do this smoothly while others will have difficulty. There is always going to be a specific personalities that will hinder the process. Let’s look at a few.
Hindering Personalities
The Solo Player: These players generally will be in the way. These players will generally just make solo guilds and proceed to avoid communication.
The Hipster: Similar to the solo player. They will avoid doing the general consensus to not do it.
The Greedy: These are a few people. Simply put they want more power in the guild simply to have more power.
The Oblivious: These players simply do not know there is communication on the server or simply don’t bother using it.
Reality cont.
Not all servers will have these players. On the other hand, some will have such players. Regardless, you still have to convince them to join. Try communicating a few time and to convince them. If it results running into a brick wall try talking to their member(s) if they have any.
What if I have none of those type of players but still have trouble optimizing/merging guilds?
If you are the one suggesting you may have to compromise. It can be as simple as a guild name change. It can be as mediocre as deciding who gets lead or vice. It can be as difficult as deciding how the guild should do things. These may be minor to some players while others value. Regardless, you must be willing to sort out a deal if you want to do this and as to execute the deal as soon as possible. Most importantly, communication is key. Communicate with all parties involved which may include leaders, vice or even their members. Misinformation can stall or flop the situation from progression.
What if I get whole server to merge guilds? Should be smooth sailing?
Theoretically it works out. But again various personalities can spoil the fun. Let’s look at various personalities.
Hindering Personalities
The Backstabber: Will try to divide a guild for ulterior motives.
The Greedy: Will want to be have more power. Can lead to backstab.
The Procrastinator: Does little to nothing for contributing to guild war/events. Leads to reduced efficiency.
The Hoarder: Claims guild event gears without using or having a need for. Can lead to reduced efficiency.
What can I do to prevent these people?
There will be a few bad apples. Communication is one way to reduce misunderstandings or problems. Simply giving a warning or communicating can solve the problem. The person may have problems or has a need which may be addressed.
Conclusion
Guilds are in reality very volatile and inefficient. Not everyone is will play the game the same way. This also is affected by the density of players on servers. As more and more servers open the older servers lose players, grow very slowly or are complete ghost towns. To improve efficiency the approach of getting server together is ideal. This however proves to be more difficult than it seems. One may ask would server merges improve on this? As logical as it sounds it creates just as much problems as it fixes. As the game developers seem to be content with old servers dying off slowly it safe to say it is not happening anytime sooner.
