Albion Online 5v5 Ranged DPS Tier List

0

The tier list is based on general consensus, winrate in GvG, and my opinion(controversial right?).  Some weapons are good vs. pug group, yet it’s placed low, because they just don’t see play in GvG. Some weapons are good by itself, but they get placed low, because they don’t see much play in GvG. If your weird janky weapon didn’t get placed high, don’t get salty.  And btw, tier list gets updated depending on the information I get.

My criteria

  1. is it great by itself?
  2. does it fit in a lot of competitive comps?
  3. proven to be good or just good in theory?

Defining the Tier:

S – this weapon is on the tier of its own.  It fits in every comp and it does everything well.

A – this weapon is META right now.  It is pretty darn great, but possibly a flavor of the month.

B – this weapon fits in some comps.

C – not the greatest

D – you are trolling.

F – you are actually trolling.

———————————————————————————————

Blue Text means it got placed higher since last time.

Red Text means it got placed lower since last time.

Green Text means, the tier remains the same, but the playstyle has changed.

S tier

Light Crossbow –  Light xbow is a braindead weapon that has the easiest combo(W->Poison->E).  In chaotic fights, a lot of teams just catch the AoE and either someone dies or they have to reset.  What’s really stupid is, you can do this every 15 seconds. It’s just so much pressure and I can’t complain about this weapon at all.   This weapon is especially good now, because majority of players don’t run dodge(assassin shoes, royal shoes). And even if they do, it forces them to pop their shoes.  Yeah it’s OP.

A tier

Great Frost Staff – Frost is fucking stupid right now.  It has so much CC, so much damage and so much survivability.  You can easily stack obsessive without feeling flat footed, because of Frost Nova.  E hits like a truck and it’s a great zoning tool. Nothing like playing a ranged weapon without ever feeling in danger.  It sees just as much play as Light xbow, but Light xbow offers more reliable burst, whereas Great Frost Staff offers better zoning potential and CC.  Right now, the meta prefers burst.

B tier

Fire Staff – Fire Staff’s job is to pressure and kill one target.  With Druid Robe, this weapon pumped out a lot of single target damage and if you get hit by a fully stacked E, it will send your ass straight to Valhalla.  Also, Fire Wall ability is literally AIDS and it really sucks as melee to going against that bs. The problem with this weapon is that, it’s very flat footed(standing as casting) and there’s no room to finesse.  Fire Staff players say this weapon is going out of flavor and it’s being outclassed by Great Frost.

Great Fire Staff: They are not bad honestly.  Just not as reliable and not as great damage, but AoE pressure is always great.  People are finally figuring it out that this weapon is great. It offers just as much damage as Light Crossbow and it can be used every 10 sec.  The only downside is it’s mana cost, but it is not much of an issue as Royal Cowl is so darn good right now. Not being as able to use offhand makes you less tanky, but it is still offers great zoning tools.  Just make sure you don’t get blown up 🙂

C tier

Boltcaster – This is hard to place for me. Because people think Boltcaster is some kind of god weapon that one-shots tanks.  Yes, it can apply great pressure, but this weapon can be very inconsistent and you have a giant target on your head, when you bring this out and everyone will all in on you.  Potentially, it does more damage than Light Crossbow, but players often use Noise-Eraser instead of Sunder shot, and that hurts the dps quite a lot. Despite all the negatives, it is still a good weapon on good hands.  But yeah, this weapon is definitely falling out of flavor and outclassed by Light Crossbow. If this weapon is good at anything, it’s for 1v1m which is exactly why it seems usage in Farm GvG.

Arcane Staffs –  Arcane is strong and you don’t know it.  With aggressive caster being added to the passive slot, this weapon can dish out some serious damage.  The nature of Arcane is in theory, this weapon class has the tools to adapt to every situation. It is still a bit janky to play, but it’s because of its learning curve.  Good Arcane players are already playing this weapon well. I can be my balls that this weapon will see more play.

Demonic Staff(need more info) – Good at extended fights and armor piercer is great.  AoE armor reduction is really great and Dark Matter can get kills, but it’s not exactly top of the line in terms of DPS.  E is really great at denying heals; it denies important heal CD, such as Graveguard helmet and Druidic Staff.

Great Cursed Staff: E is strong.  Vile Curse stacks can’t be ignored.  People often overlook how great Vile stack is during fights.  The dot does a lot of damage over time, and during fights, Nature Healers have very hard time keeping everyone healthy.

D tier

Heavy Crossbow – Man, I wish this weapon was better.  With all the tools that xbows already have, Heavy xbow’s job is to either cancel the channeling or secure a kill with it’s long range E.   Because Heavy xbow’s playstyle requires you to hold on to your E, which means you are losing DPS and if you want to use it as burst, Light xbow is just better at it.  This weapon is literally why I played xbow to begin with, but it gets outclassed by other meta weapons by a large margin.

Longbow – I think it’s a great weapon.  Solely on performance by itself, I’d rate it much higher.  I think Deadly shot is a great skill, Ray of Light does a lot of damage and CC is great, and I think Rain of Arrow is a great skill.  The problem is, its damage is a bit unreliable and it doesn’t do as much damage. Literally the ONLY thing this weapon is missing is aggressive caster, which will make this weapon S tier.  Until then, It will get outclassed(not even by a lot) by other meta weapons. I thought I would see this weapon a lot more, but it’s a shame.

F tier

Crossbow: 3s cast time LUL.

Weeping Repeater: hot garbage in every way possible.

Bow: forces you to wear hunter jacket and lose 30% of the damage. Purged once and you are useless for 30 sec.

Whispering Bow: see above.  IDC what anyone says.  This weapon is not a lethal threat right now.  It forces you to use multiple cooldowns and it doesn’t do as much damage as other weapons.  Yes, you can build around it, but why?

War Bow: Gank that tank

Wailing Bow: CD too long.

Bow of Badon: realistically, you will only hit the tank or fully stack soldier armor.  Long CD.

Wildfire Staff: somewhat on par with Great Fire Staff.  Can wear off-hand, long CD.

Brimstone Staff: Don’t let your memes be dreams. Can be hype with Scholar Robe, but will never see play.

Frost Staff: Safe Even with Crypt Candle. Does decent damage with huge AoE.  But no one will give it a try. Infinitely worse than Great Frost Staff.

Hoarfrost Staff: Long CD

Icicle Staff: It’s a way better weapon than before.  But it ultimately became a sticky pot in a weapon form.  It does too little damage to be used in 5v5.

Glacial Staff: fuck off

Permafrost Prism: Way too long CD.

Cursed Staff: gl keeping stacks.  Can be rolled, blocked.

Lifecurse Staff: HCE boys and Anglia boys.

Damnation Staff: fuck off

Cursed Skull: Spooky Scary Skeleton.  Counter it by walking back.
