Granblue Fantasy Extra Purchases Guide

Ever wanted to spend even more on Granblue Fantasy to get some cool exclusive illustrations that come with character tickets, elixirs, trophies, and stickers? No worries, this is a guide on exactly how to do that!

(Siero would be proud.)

What I’ll teach you how to purchase/redeem:

  • G-points
  • Serial codes from books

What you’ll need:

  • Money (ranging from $3-$8 USD per book, up to $25 for CDs)
  • A http://bookwalker.jp account
  • Credit/Debit Card (Bookwalker doesn’t take PP for a lot of books now)
  • The term “グランブルー” (Copy and paste if you don’t know how to type this, it’s just Granblue)
  • An attention to detail, because promotional codes expire/are not in every Famitsu

Step 1: Make a Bookwalker Account

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.29.56 PM.png

Bookwalker is a cool site that lets you purchase Japanese books and magazines digitally!

Keep in mind that in order to purchase Granblue items from Bookwalker, you must be on the Japanese version of the site, not Global. It will not show up on the catalogs otherwise.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.32.16 PM.png

To create an account, hit the gear, which will redirect you to a login page. On the top righthand corner, you can swap to English, scroll down to find this green button and simply follow the prompts.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.35.56 PM.png

Now you’re ready to make some purchases!

Step 2: Find Something to Buy

“Yeah, you see, I don’t really know what to get. I don’t even know what my choices are!” No worries, because you can check what you can get right in the game! Be aware that if you are a mobile player, you must open GBF in your browser otherwise you will not be able to see what I’m about to show you. The app will not work.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.47.02 PM.png

Right on the News page, right when you open the game, just scroll down until you see banners that look like this.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.48.26 PM.png

Click the top one, then choose a set of books that looks interesting to you.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.49.42 PM.png

For example, if you hit the Novel banner it’ll show you the rewards for redeeming a serial code from those!

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.50.17 PM.png

CHARACTER WEAPON TICKETS?! Yeah, well, don’t get too excited… I never got anything but Rs from these… Not like the chances were actually in my favor so that’s really my fault.

After you find something that suits your fancy, go right to Bookwalker and do some hunting for it. グランブルー in the search bar, hit the category you want and it’ll redirect you to a category (it’s sorted by type of media/series). I’ll use Vol. 6 with Ferry. Now here’s where you have to be careful, because as I said at the beginning, these codes expire and you want to make sure that if you’re making these purchases exclusively for codes that you will still get one when you toss that money at the screen.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.55.21 PM.png

Make sure to check the description to see if the item you want comes with a serial code.

Be careful to check the dates on expiration here! According to JP users, “expired” codes are still valid, but I wouldn’t risk it…

9/29/2017 NOTE: Be aware that the Bookwalker edition of Volume 1 of the Granblue Fantasy manga does not come with the free Damascus crystal (I missed out on this). If you want this addition, you will have to get it on Amazon JP on the Kindle store/physically.

Other books come with other things, like this godless harp.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.58.51 PM.png

This harp is from the 3rd volume of Granblues. The first two weapons, which were a sword and a staff are already expired. Don’t be too down if you want those memey weapons though, because the equally memey Revolvyrn from vol. 4 (light gun) has an excellent ougi that will leave your sides hurting. Make sure if you grab these to check the journal and look at their flavor text because they’re quite funny.

If there’s something you like and you’re not really sure where to get it after countless searches, PM me (/u/osohe) and I’ll do some poking around for you!

Frequently asked question is, “Where do I get the chronicles for the Vyrn Suit?” The answer is, you can no longer get it because the codes for some of the first volumes have expired, and it was never available digitally. Sorry 🙁

All weapons that come in serial codes come completely uncapped, and all of them so far have been SRs and generally underwhelming/gimmicky, but the Granblues weapons, in my opinion, are absolutely worth it for how bizarre they are. They’re great weapon skins!

As for CD codes, you can get the CDs on Ebay, Amazon, and the like. Serial code implementation is the same for any sort of purchase you make.

Step 2a: Getting Region Restricted Items

For Bookwalker Purchases

I’ve used this method on a different book completely unrelated to Granblue (if you can’t see it, it’s the Ensemble Stars artbook) on Bookwalker.

Before you install and use a VPN service, you will see this sort of text when you try to purchase a book.

s (0).png

Excuse me for the Book Walker example, as for some reason I can’t find any GBF books that are region restricted on Book Walker anymore. They used to have GPT available on other magazines, but I digress…

But there’s no need to fear! If you install a VPN service this will clear your problems! There’s ones like TunnelBear that I’ve tried using before, but to my success I use HolaVPN.

Once you install the extension, just swap it to Japan on the tab of the item page you are purchasing and it will reload the page. If it doesn’t work, open the extension again and it will prompt you to reload if you see no changes. If it still doesn’t work, turn off the VPN, wait for it to reload the page, turn it on again, and paste in the direct link to the item you want to buy.

Purchasing is detailed below.

Amazon Purchases

Stamp122.png

With Amazon it may be a bit iffy; please check these string of comments. If you still want to use this method for Amazon, make sure to wait after your transaction and have an Japanese address. You can get one via Tenso. You will receive your serials via email for Amazon.

There’s also this guide that I used quite a few years ago, but I got stuck in this limbo of having the eBook that I bought and them rejecting my payment a few days later… I’m pretty sure they froze my account too, so keep that in mind.

Overall people are concluding the hassle isn’t really worth it but if you want to save a few bucks on shipping go ahead and take that risk if you’d like.

Step 3: Purchasing

I’ll be using a Famitsu purchase as an example, since I want to grab some G points to get a sticker. It’s really the same process either way. The sticker list can be found on http://gbf.wiki/Stickers, and you can check what else you can get with G-points on the second banner listed in step 2. One of the notable things is the Cait Sith, which has a 20% EXP boost as a support/main summon but it is the most expensive thing to purchase let alone fully MLB. If you are starting your quest for a Cait Sith now, then make sure to keep up with buying codes for it!

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 7.40.59 PM.png

These are the stickers you can get as of February 2017 from G-points.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.11.02 PM.png

You want G-points? You literally cannot go wrong with getting this one as of this date’s writing, because this is new. If you’re checking much later than February 2017, you’ll want to be vigilant about the dates.

UPDATE: As Japanese is not my first language (or even a language I consider to know at all), I get some things wrong sometimes. For a list of more definitive expiration dates, please check the Japanese Wiki. Don’t listen to my advice, just check their dates! Thanks for Zhurai for pointing this out.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.14.07 PM.png

Famitsu magazines come with a buttload of codes, so use translators if you need to. I’m going to focus on this bit right here, which confirms that it comes with G-points. Once again, not every magazine comes with G-points. They tend to be in the issue at the end/beginnings of the month, and are included in the issues with the leaks that everyone sees for new characters and the like. Magazines have 100 G-points which is enough for one sticker or two G-point tickets (which are the same as the usual 1-draw tickets). FYI the anniversary one came with more than 100GPT.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.17.34 PM.png

Toss it in your cart and go and check out!

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.18.26 PM.png

Swapping to English on this page will turn the credit/debit card info input site into English as well if you need it, and the rest should be pretty intuitive if you’ve made online purchases before. The real tricky part with Famitsu codes is actually finding the one you want to redeem since they come with so many in one magazine!

And if you needed to know what cards Book Walker takes, here they are. For some reason, the Famitsu and manga I’ve bought for GBF have not been able to take Paypal, so keep that in mind… (9/26/17)

Step 4: Redemption

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.20.25 PM.png

Right, uh… Where do I go now?

Go to “Return to My Account” on the bottom of the page.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.22.01 PM.png

On the righthand side, you’ll see something called History (some formatting will be different on mobile, the black bar in the last image will show you where the serial code will be too). To find your codes, go to “Purchase Gift”.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.24.00 PM.png

“I put in the first serial code I saw and it didn’t work! Did I get scammed?” No, you have to look for the one that says Granblue Fantasy as highlighted. Now back to the game.

Do note that there was a time a few days ago as of September 26, 2017 where the Famitsu codes were not working, so search up on Twitter and ask your friends if people are complaining about them.

It actually does matter where you input your code so if you’re getting G-points, make sure they’re in the Points banner serial input and not the other banner. Put in your code and it should be redeemed!

If you input the incorrect code too many times, the game will stop you from trying again for a certain amount of time. Copy paste works on this, so don’t make needless mistakes!

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.28.09 PM.png
Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.30.51 PM.png

Go to the G-point banner and choose something you like! The choices are endless.

Screen Shot 2017-02-24 at 8.39.36 PM.png

Congrats! Now you know how to spend even more money on this game (Serial codes from physical things like CDs/books will be implemented the same way.)

For the Granblue manga, the Damascus bar will be redeemed under News (the game’s splash page, scroll down) -> Serial Codes -> Books Tab -> Granblue Fantasy (the first one as of September 30 2017).

s (0).png

Hit the “Tap for Details” button and you’ll be able to redeem your Damascus Bar!
