DPS Characters

There are three types of characters. First, DPS characters don’t require you to cast spells; their purpose is to regular attack. When they attack, they hit widely with a two-hand sword.

When you hold on to the attack button, they will start spinning and trigger elemental effects with the spells. They are a MUST have for every party. You must have at least 1 of these characters. They are necessary when you need to attack monsters.

You will be building a team around at least 1 or 2 of the DPS characters. Diluc is the highest DPS unit. Be aware that all DPS units have different elements. It is essential to look into the elements they have. For example, ice, electricity, water, and wind. It is recommended to choose from the “S” tier or “A” tier. If you don’t have any of the top tier characters, you can use Noelle; she can last until level 20 and sometimes 40.

Constellation for DPS

If you do have more than one DPS character on the “S” and “A” tier, you can consider the “constellation” of the character. This means you can duplicate the character and unlock one of the perks of the character.

For example, the constellation for the character, Chongyun, you will gain after one duplicate: the last attack of regular attack combo releases three ice blades. Constellations are essential in the midst of the game. As the game continues, look into characters with more constellations and try to invest in characters with more constellations.

Weapons for DPS

Next, it is essential to look at the weapons. Specifically, look at how many stars your character’s weapon has. The weapon makes a difference in how much damage you can cause. If you have a DPS character without a 4-star weapon, this is not a problem; you can eventually craft a weapon with a blacksmith.

Artifacts for DPS

Finally, it is vital to consider the availability of artifacts. The better your artifacts are, the more damage you will be able to create. An example of a great set of artifacts is the Gladiator’s Nostalgia. It has 18% of attack per two sets.

Elemental Resonance

To see the elemental resonance, click “party setup” and click on the top right where it says “elemental resonance.”

Ideally, you want something that enhances your DPS character. You can also consider having something unique to help with your gameplay.

For example, the character Chongyun, an “ice” character, could have 12 Cryos for additional defense against electric and increased critical rate against enemies that are frozen or affected by Cryo. Party resonance is essentially there to help you with your game play style.

Elemental Synergy

Once you have your DPS character, look at his element and the potential elemental competition you can have with him. For example, you could have crystallized if you have a geo (earth) character, you could have a swirl if you have an anemo (wind) character, and lastly, superconduct with an electro (lightning) character. By activating superconduct on an enemy, this will do cryo damage and also reduces the target’s defense. This is an advantage because most characters benefit from the lower defense of enemies, which allows you to do more right-click damage with your DPS characters.

Support characters

To build a team around your DPS characters, you also need support characters and the healers. There is a tier list to show the level of support characters. The support characters’ main focus is that they will be giving us elemental reactions, utility buffs, and debuffs. Their spells can be persistent even after you swap into another character. For example, Fischl does electric damage to enemies even when you swap into a different character. Similarly, Xiangling can puff enemies with fire and debuff. The benefits of debuff enemies are that it will enhance the ability to trigger different elemental reactions, generate elemental resources for DPS, and give the team more buffs and debuffs to enemies.

Support Elemental Synergy

One of the most important reasons for having a supporting character is to start elemental chain reactions. If your DPS is one of the elements, you want to have a supporting character that links with your element. Another critical factor is to regenerate elemental resources. You can require elemental orbs as you defeat enemies and cast elemental spells. This allows your character to cast the ultimate, which is the elemental burst q ability. Having a supporting character with the same elemental as the DPS character can increase the potential of regenerating energy, allowing you to acquire energy faster. This, in turn, leads to a burst. It’s essential to keep in mind that Elemental regeneration is more of a bonus; it shouldn’t be your entire focus. Elemental reactions and the roles of characters are more important to focus on

Healers

Healers are similar to support but have the ability to heal. There are different healers in the game that carry out slightly different roles. For example, Barbara on tier A has continuous healing with her “e” spell. Noelle does a bit of everything; she heals over time as she attacks. Try to consider at least one healer on the team or as a backup. You can save a lot of food and resources by having a healer.

Noelle as a healer

Noelle is the healer you will have access to earlier on in the game, so let’s take a closer look at this healer. Crystallize, which is Noelle’s ability to geo, interacting with four other elements. Having Noel cast her shield next to an enemy, the enemy has to be debuffed already with fire, water, ice, or electricity. When you cast your shield next to the enemy, your enemy will create a small shield of buff. If you pick it up, you now have an elemental defense, depending on the elements of fire, water, cyro, or electric, depending on how the enemy was debuffed. This elemental shield will reduce the income damage from those elemental effects.

F2P Party Setup

Noelle will be the DPS dealer before you get Xiangling. Lisa and Amber will be the elemental support. She will be the support and enhancer of elemental damage.

Once you get Xiangling, you can remove Lisa. For this team’s elemental resonance, you can have two pyro characters that will reduce the duration of Cryo status by 40% and increase ATK by 25%.

In addition to this, you will also have the ability to crystallize with fire and geo and create a swirl with fire and wind. Although this may be a basic setup, as you continue to acquire units, you will adjust your team. For example, you could take away Noelle as one of the healers and support and then add in Barbara (at level 20). In this setup, you would be able to have an additional swirl with wind and water and vaporize with fire and water. This will enhance elemental outward potential. You can also consider removing wind and going with another water unit.

Party Setup examples

Double up for elements on DPS characters. For example, electric with Razor, who is doubling up with Fischl. This is not precisely necessary; try to have fun with creating your team and base it on your favorite characters. The examples also demonstrate that if you don’t have a particular character, you can swap for another. For example, if you don’t have Fischl, you can go with Lisa. Similarly, if you don’t have a good healer, you can always go with Barbara or Noelle.
